عظیم مجاہد اسلام، عاشق رسول ﷺ، حضرت ابو القاسم نور الدین محمود بن محمود زنگی شہید رحمۃ اللہ تعالی علیہ کی ولادت 17 شوال المکرم 511ھ بروز اتوار طلوعِ آفتاب کے وقت ہوئی۔ آپ باجماعت نماز ادا فرماتے، روزوں کی پابندی کرتے، تلاوت قرآن کرتے، اوراد و وظائف پڑھتے، علماء اور صالحین کی ہم نشینی اختیار کرتے، ان کی زیارت کو جاتے اور ان کا بہت ادب بجا لاتے، شہادت کا بہت شوق رکھتے تھے اسی لیے میدانِ جہاد میں پیش پیش رہتے، اُون کا لباس پہنتے، کتابت کر کے اور غلاف بنا کر رزقِ حلال کماتے، جائے نماز اور قرآن پاک ہمیشہ ساتھ رکھتے، کبھی فحش (بے ہودہ) گفتگو نہ فرماتے، تکبر و غرور سے اجتناب فرماتے، اور ہمیشہ عدل و انصاف سے کام لیتے۔ 11 شوال المکرم 569ھ بروز بدھ دمشق میں وصال فرمایا۔ مدرسۃ النوریہ، سوق الخیاطین قدیم دمشق میں آپ کی قبر مبارک دعاؤں کی قبولیت کا مرکز ہے۔ (وفیات الاعیان، مرآۃ الزمان، سیر اعلام النبلاء)

Great Warrior of Islam, Ardent devotee of the beloved Prophet ﷺ, Abu al-Qasim Noor-ud-Din Mahmood bin Mahmood Zangi Shaheed (Alayhir Rahmah) was born on Sunday, 17 Shawwal 511 AH, at sunrise. He would offer prayers in the congregation, observe fasts, recite the Holy Quran, recite rituals and litanies, associate with the scholars and the righteous, visit them and respect them, and always remained at the forefront in the battlefield for he was very fond of martyrdom. He would wear woolen clothes, earn halal sustenance by writing and making cushions and covers, always kept a prayer mat and a copy of the Holy Quran along, never spoke vulgar, refrain from boasting and pride, and always performed justice. He passed away in Damascus on Wednesday, 11 Shawwal 569 AH. His blessed resting place in Madrasa al-Nuriyah, Souq al-Khayyatin in the ancient Damascus area is the center of acceptance of supplications.
