The bar chart compares the percentage of government budgets allocated to road and transport maintenance in four countries β Italy, Portugal, the UK, and the USA β from 1990 to 2005. Overall, all four countries showed noticeable changes over the period, with Portugal consistently allocating the highest proportion of its budget to this sector.
Portugal and Italy invested relatively more in road and transport infrastructure compared to the other two nations. In 1990, Portugal allocated the highest share β 27% of its budget β while Italy spent 20%. By 1995, both countries had reduced their spending, with Portugalβs allocation falling to 20% and Italyβs to just over 15%. Although there was a slight drop in 2000, both countries had similar levels of investment by 2005, each allocating around 15% to this sector.
In contrast, the USA and the UK showed more fluctuation and generally lower investment levels. The USA began with 14% in 1990 and, despite minor fluctuations throughout the period, its spending remained relatively stable. The UK started at just above 10% and saw a modest increase to around 13% in 1995. However, this was followed by a sharp decline to approximately 5% in 2000, after which the figure remained largely unchanged until 2005.

The bar chart shows how the sales of different kinds of magazines in a particular company changed in the years 1975, 1995 and 2015. Overall, all figures changed considerably, albeit to varying degrees, across the years. Out of a particular note was sports magazines that were sold significantly more compared to any other types in all years.
Journals about sports were the bestsellers, starting at just 30%, it had then risen slightly by 5% until 1995. Reaching more than 40% in the final year, the figure maintained its highest position.
The two figures β food and unspecified kinds of magazines - followed almost similar patterns. The sales of journals related to food stood at 10% in 1975 and remained unchanged in the final year with a peak of 22% in 1995. Meanwhile, the proportion of unknown magazines sold was slightly over 25% in the initial and final year despite peaking at 33% in 1995.
As for downward trends, the two types β fashion and health β magazines lost their popularity overtime with a respective 22% and 26% of them being sold in 1975. Over the next two decades, the sales of both types of journals saw a slight decline of 5%. While the percentage of fashion magazines continued to fall significantly, hitting a low of 5% in 2015- the least popular out of the all, the sales of health-related magazines remained stable.

With the development of the technology such as a computer, it is virtually possible to observe historical objects and art works now, leaving no need for visiting public museums and art galleries in person. While I do not disregard the potential efficiency of computers in providing people with pictures and 3-D videos about artifacts from a distance, I believe that claiming the public will not need such recreational and educational places as museums and art galleries anymore is just an overstatement.
Admittedly, computers have become one of the sources people can see exhibits in museums and art galleries from without paying physical visits. One of the most cited benefits is that the availability of digital information received through computers give everyone a chance to save their time that can be better spent on more important activities....
However effective the use of computers in delivering information about artifacts, I believe that a complete replacement of traditional museums and art galleries with the internet enabling people to see everything remotely cannot be favored. One of the most significant reasons ......
In conclusion, although the installation of web cameras showcasing artifacts to the general public online can be effective in saving time and offering flexibility, I believe that viewing historical artifacts and artworks virtually cannot be as good as observing them in person.

The line graph illustrates the changes in the number of speakers using four different languages - Chinese, Arabic, Italian, and Greek - as their native one from 1986 to 2011, measured in thousands . Overall, all figures saw either an upward or a downward trend, albeit to varying degrees, throughout the period. Out of a particular note was the Chinese that became the most spoken language for the majority.
As for increasing trends, the number of people speaking Chinese stood at 100.000 thousands, followed by Arabic speakers, at 50.000 - the least spoken language in 1986. The former figure grew rapidly and reached 350.000 in 2011, outnumbering other figures until the early 2000s, while the latter saw a gradual increase to 150.000 in the final year.
Regarding the other two - Greek and Italian - native speakers, their figures followed a similar trajectory, declining steadily over the period. Ranking first, 250.000 people were native Greek speakers in the initial year, while the number of people using an Italian language was significantly lower, at 150.000. However, each of the figures had experienced a gradual drop of 50.000 by the final year.
