Humanity is good.

I coud see him in the distance, struggling to get out of his car, but always on time for his bi-weekly tennis lesson.

He slowly makes his way to the court with a big smile on his face, wearing all his tennis gear, looking forward to hitting some balls.

He is 85 years old and playing tennis twice a week is what keeps him going. Every time I see him, I hope I will one day also keep going well into my 80s. Who knows, by then I might play semi-decently! 🤪

I have always admired old people that have the will to stay active, even when it’s a bit of a struggle. Our body works like an engine, you must keep it running regularly. Inaction and stagnation can be fatal, just like a car that’s not been used, the battery eventually runs out.

I chatted to my new friend for a while. He used to be an architect, so we share similar passions and I have always felt that it’s a gift to give someone the opportunity to tell you their story, so I listened intently as his eyes brightened up at my interest in his life and career.

I have a feeling he now has two reasons to get up early and come to the tennis club! 😂

Let’s always try to be someone’s reason to smile… It doesn’t take much, but it can make a huge difference in someone’s life.
