▫️KSP crime report shows significant increase in human trafficking crimes
LEXINGTON, Ky. - While human trafficking crimes make up a small percentage of overall offenses in Kentucky (0.03%), they’ve made the biggest jump, percentagewise. The report shows a nearly 40 percent rise from 2022 to 2023.
“I think it’s probably we are doing a better job of tracking and identifying (human trafficking),” said Jani Lewis, who serves as executive director for Natalie’s Sisters in Lexington. “But then also too, I think the numbers are higher.”
Natalie’s Sisters works to support women who have been trafficked or sexually exploited through outreach at adult clubs and on the streets. Lewis says the upward trend is reflected in their drop-in center in Lexington’s east end.
“Last year, I think we saw 400 women at the drop-in center,” Lewis said. “This year, we’ve seen almost 400 women to date, in the first six months.”

▫️Northport man arrested on multiple charges related to child sexual abuse material
A man was arrested on multiple charges related to child sexual abuse material in Northport Wednesday morning.
The West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force said 34-year-old Casey Lee Kirkland was charged with two counts of dissemination of child sexual abuse material and eight counts of possession of child sexual abuse material.
The task force said investigators conducted a search of a residence in the 2600 block of 15th Avenue and evidence related to the charges was recovered.
Kirkland is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail awaiting bond to be set by a judge.

▫️Texas man charged in Utah with trying to arrange sex with a child
A Texas man was charged Wednesday with making arrangements to travel to Utah to sexually abuse a 9-year-old girl.
Jordan Christopher Hagen, 23, of Denton, Texas, is charged in Tooele County's 3rd District Court with two counts of human trafficking for sexual exploitation, a second-degree felony.
In August, a Tooele police officer was posing online as a father who was offering his 9-year-old daughter for prostitution. Hagen "began making arrangements to come to Utah" to engage in sexual activity with the fictitious child, according to charging documents.
In October, he told the undercover officer "that he was planning to visit Utah between Christmas and New Year's Day 2023 to have sex with (his) daughter," according to the charges.
His initial court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 20.

▫️Human Smuggler From Mexico Gets 10 Years In Arizona
A Mexican citizen, Jesus Ernesto Dessens-Romero, 28, was sentenced today to 120 months in federal prison for his role in a dangerous human smuggling operation.
Dessens-Romero was convicted in November 2023 by a jury trial on charges of conspiracy to transport and transport undocumented immigrants for profit, as well as bringing undocumented immigrants into the United States for profit.
“Human smugglers profit from the exploitation of migrants and routinely expose them to violence, injury, and death,” said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland. “Today’s sentence shows the Justice Department will continue to hold accountable these smugglers and the criminal networks that abuse, exploit, or endanger migrants.”

It occurred to me just now, that it seems like we’ve all had to, or are in the process of, swallowing whatever red pill hurts us the most. All red pills are hard to swallow but then there are those that make us bleed inside from the pain.

For some people it might be financial red pills, for others it might be medical, the religious one I fear is the hardest for a lot of people, but eventually we will have swallowed them all (if we don’t choke first!🤪).

I was trying to think which pill was the hardest for me to gulp down and without a doubt, it was realising the unimaginable level of evil, that has overtaken this world. For the first time, the concept of Satan was not just some biblical myth, it was real.

I will never forget a conversation I had with someone that had rescued child victims from satanic ritual abuse. My heart sank, my brain froze, my spirit shook… how could it be possible? How could anyone carry out such horrific acts? How could humans be capable of this? Surely they can’t be human…

I had never considered the possibility of ‘soulless’ humans, but it seemed to me, there could be no other explanation. These people have sold their soul to the devil and now they want to drive us all down the road to hell.

I’m not sure I’ll ever recover from this red pill, but it keeps fueling my resolve to do my best to bring awareness to as many people as possible, as hard as they may find it to believe.

Confronting evil has brought me closer to God than I have ever been and for this, I am grateful. Even darkness has a silver lining.

With God in our hearts, we must now do what we must, to make sure no more children are harmed. Let’s never loose sight of the fact that children are our most precious treasure and keeping them safe from harm, is our most honorable duty.
