🎙 Man City vs. Arsenal: Team news, injuries, predicted lineups & how to watch Premier League title clash

📌 Manchester City vs Arsenal preview, team news, injuries, predicted lineups, stats, and how to watch the Premier League title clash at the Etihad.

Sunday’s blockbuster meeting between Manchester City and Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium could shape the destiny of the Premier League title race. Arsenal arrive as league leaders but face intense pressure from Pep Guardiola’s side, who sit just six points behind with a game in hand.

Victory for City would significantly tighten the race, while an Arsenal win could extend their lead to nine points and potentially put the championship beyond reach. With both teams chasing glory in the closing weeks of the season, this encounter promises high stakes, tactical intrigue, and elite-level drama.

Manchester City hosts Arsenal in one of the most anticipated fixtures of the Premier League season. The match takes place at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester as the title race reaches a crucial stage.

Pep Guardiola faces defensive problems ahead of the clash. Center backs Joško Gvardiol, John Stones, and Rúben Dias are all unavailable due to injuries, forcing City to rely on Abdukodir Khusanov and Marc Guéhi in central defense.

There had been concern over Nico O’Reilly after he was substituted early during the win against Chelsea, but Guardiola confirmed the youngster is “fine” and available. With a full week of rest following their Champions League exit, City are expected to field an unchanged lineup.

Arsenal travel to Manchester, missing several key players. Bukayo Saka is confirmed out with an Achilles injury, while Mikel Merino remains sidelined with a long‑term foot problem.

There is uncertainty surrounding Riccardo Calafiori, Jurriën Timber, and Martin Ødegaard , although Mikel Arteta suggested some of them could potentially feature. Noni Madueke is also a minor doubt after picking up a knock during the week.

Pep Guardiola confirmed Nico O’Reilly’s availability after concerns over a hamstring issue, stating the defender is “fine” for Sunday’s match.

Manchester City (4‑2‑3‑1)

Premier League Season Comparison

Manchester City enters the clash with strong momentum after dominant wins over Liverpool and Chelsea, and Guardiola’s side appears to be peaking at the perfect time in the title race. Despite defensive injuries, the presence of Rodri, Bernardo Silva, and the attacking trio behind Erling Haaland gives City formidable firepower.

Arsenal, by contrast, arrive with inconsistent form and key absences—most notably Bukayo Saka. Arteta’s side still boasts one of the league’s strongest defenses, but their recent attacking struggles could be problematic against a City team that thrives in high‑pressure encounters. If the Gunners can stay compact and frustrate City early, a draw might be enough to maintain control of the title race.

📡 Human Rights official calls for intl. legal action against US-Israeli war crimes in Iran

📌 Tehran, IRNA – Deputy Chief of Iran’s Judiciary and Secretary of the Human Rights Headquarters, strongly criticized the UN Security Council and human rights mechanisms performance in addressing the crimes committed by the Zionist regime and the US against Iran and described the attacks on critical infrastructure as “environmental genocide” and war crimes.

Nasser Seraj stated in an interview that the February 28th deadly attack on a girls’ school in the southern city of Minab was undoubtedly a war crime and a clear violation of fundamental human rights.

The Iranian official emphasized that the UN Security Council must condemn this massacre as a war crime and pursue it through legal and judicial channels. He noted that, unfortunately, due to the US regime's veto power, the Security Council has effectively lost its impact and is unable to fulfill its duties.

“Furthermore, the Human Rights Council must also take action to pursue the responsibility of those who ordered and carried out the crime against the Minab school,” he added.

He also criticized the numerous attacks on Iranian medical centers during the 40-day war, saying: “Attacking medical facilities is not only a war crime but also the breaking of a taboo that the international community established to protect the most vulnerable moments of human life.”

He stated that the deliberate targeting of centers such as Gandhi Hospital, Khatam al-Anbia Hospital, medical centers in Bandar Abbas, Zahedan, Ahvaz, and most notably the Pasteur Institute, is a clear example of the widespread and purposeful destruction of Iran’s vital infrastructure.

Referring to the numerous American and Israeli attacks on residential homes across various Iranian cities, Seraj described these strikes on purely civilian sites—which resulted in the martyrdom and injury of thousands of Iranian citizens, including innocent women and children—as deeply regrettable and tragic, plunging all Iranians into profound grief.

The legal official of the Islamic Republic of Iran further pointed to attacks on vital infrastructure such as oil depots, refineries, the power grid, and water facilities. He stated that these attacks, in addition to being clear violations of international humanitarian law, pose a direct threat to the right to health and the right to the environment for millions of Iranian citizens.

Seraj also addressed the actions of certain Persian Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates, regarding the deportation of Iranian citizens during the 40-day war, describing this behavior a clear violation of fundamental international law and human rights.

“By adopting discriminatory policies—such as the widespread and collective cancellation of visas and residency permits for Iranians, the seizure of property and investments, the forced expulsion of students and employees of Iranian institutions, and the prohibition of travel and entry for Iranians—these countries have committed clear violations of the principles of equality, non-discrimination, the right to life, the right to property, and the prohibition of collective punishment.”

He concluded that these measures, taken during wartime against a vulnerable community dependent on economic and family ties, are considered clear examples of arbitrary and discriminatory behavior and a violation of those countries’ human rights obligations.

🌍 US ‘blockade’ of Iranian ports war crime, breach of ceasefire: Foreign Ministry spox

📌 Tehran, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has condemned the United States’ naval blockade of Iran’s ports and coastline as unlawful and a breach of the Pakistani-mediated ceasefire.

In a post on his X account on Sunday, Baqaei said, “The United States’ so-called ‘blockade’ of Iran’s ports or coastline is not only a violation of the Pakistani-mediated ceasefire but also both unlawful and criminal. It violates Article 2(4) of the UN Charter; it constitutes an act of aggression under Article 3(c) of the UN General Assembly Resolution 3314 (1974), which explicitly includes the blockade of a state’s ports or coasts among such acts.

Moreover, by deliberately inflicting collective punishment on the Iranian population, it amounts to war crime and crime against humanity.”

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy said on Saturday it was closing the strategic waterway after the United States chose to maintain its illegal blockade of Iranian ports in violation of the ceasefire. Iran had declared the Strait of Hormuz closed after the US and the Israeli regime launched their aggression against the country on February 28.

Iranian Armed Forces launched attacks on American and Israeli positions in the region, demonstrating their capability to strike back effectively. Despite initial expectations by the attackers of a swift victory, the Iranian response proved significantly more potent, inflicting heavy damage on US and Israeli military resources while rallying the nation’s unity and resistance.

While the US president had issued an ultimatum, Pakistani mediation facilitated an agreement for a two-week ceasefire during which negotiations would take place in Islamabad. Iran has proposed a ten-point plan as the foundation for discussions, seeking terms such as the withdrawal of US forces from the region, lifting sanctions, and establishing control over the Strait of Hormuz.

The Supreme National Security Council of Iran emphasized on April 8 that the war led to a historic victory for Iran, compelling the US to accept negotiation terms, including a plan for guaranteed non-aggression and the cessation of hostilities.

🌍 Families of Minab school martyrs urge Pope to be voice of their voiceless children

📌 Tehran, IRNA – Families of children, who were martyred in the US bombing of an elementary school in the southern Iranian city of Minab, have expressed their appreciation for the pacifist stances of the head of the Roman Catholic church, urging Pope Leo XIV to be the voice of their voiceless children.

In a letter addressed to the pontiff, the aggrieved Iranian families have also asked the Pope to work with his enlightenment, so that no parent anywhere on the planet is forced to hum a lullaby over the cold stone of their child's grave.

We write this letter to you with trembling hands and hearts filled with pain, and amidst the ashes and ruins of the school in Minab City in southern Iran, they say in the letter, adding, "We are the fathers and mothers of 168 children who, these days, instead of hugging the warm bodies of our children, are clutching their burnt bags and bloody notebooks to our chests; innocent children whose only crime was smiling in the classroom."

They add in their letter the relief they felt amid the ordeal, saying "when the terrible sound of explosions closed the ears of the world to our cries, the echo of your [the Pope] peaceful words became a balm for our endless wounds."

Reminding the courageous calls of Leo XIV for world powers to reduce the level of violence and bombings, the families in the letter say that each of words of the Pope was an effort to save children and awaken consciences of the world about rising hatred, violence, and loss of innocent lives.

We are grateful to you for being the voice of righteousness amidst war and reminding us that lasting peace and tranquility are achieved ‘not through force and weapons, but through dialogue," the letter further says Minab is a bitter truth; the one created by American bombs under the guidance of irrational warmongers.

The parents of the martyred Minab students also tell in their letter that they know their children will never return home to build a better tomorrow, but the figure like the Pope could continue to be the voice of the voiceless children and to work to open all avenues so that no parent anywhere on this planet faces the similar tragedy.

The letter sent to the Islamic Culture and Communications Organization to be delivered to Pope Leo XIV through the Iranian Interfaith Dialogue Policy and Coordination Council.

The US-Israeli bombing of the Minab school sparked global condemnations, with religious leaders, especially Leo XIV, in addition to issuing a declaration and requesting a serious investigation into the crime at the Shajare Tayyiba School in Minab, also took clear stance on the warmongering against Iran.

The Pope called the war a "tragic" thing and stated bluntly that "God rejects the prayers of leaders who wage war and whose hands are stained in blood." He also criticized the leaders who spend billions of dollars on killing and destruction, referring to the US president, and said that the world is "being destroyed by a handful of tyrants."

🖥 Spanish PM condemns US-Israeli warmongering, calls for restraining Netanyahu

📌 Tehran, IRNA – Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has once again slammed the United States and the Israeli regime for the military escalation in West Asian and waging an illegal war of aggression against Iran.

Addressing a rally of the Socialist Workers Party in Gibraleon, southwestern Spain, on Sunday, Sanchez called on those who started the war on Iran to end their military actions and restrain Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

He also revealed that the Spanish government will present a proposal to the European Union this week to sever ties with Israel, urging the bloc members to support the measure in response to actions of the Tel Aviv regime.

Sanchez has emerged as one of the most outspoken critics of Israel in the 27-nation EU, and has numerously accused Netanyahu of committing genocide in Gaza and condemned the joint US-Israeli attacks against Iran as “a grave mistake.”

Many world leaders have directly, or indirectly criticized the unprovoked war on Iran and its impact on the global economy and security, with the Spanish premier expressing his opposition to “illegal and destabilizing” aggression from its onset.

Sanchez previously announced that he would submit a formal request to Brussels to cancel the European Union’s partnership agreement with Israel, emphasizing that anyone who violates international law, also violates the principles and values of the European Union and therefore, cannot be a partner of this bloc.

Earlier, more than 350 former European officials, in a letter, also called for the suspension of the EU’s partnership agreement with the Israeli regime.

The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military aggression against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces carried out retaliatory operations with waves of missiles and drones, targeting American military bases in the region and Israeli positions in the occupied territories, forcing the aggressors to request for a ceasefire.

💬 Pezeshkian warns of US ‘betrayal of diplomacy’ in call with Pakistan PM

📌 Tehran, IRNA – President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned that the United States is seeking to “repeat previous patterns and betray diplomacy,” warning of consequences for regional and global security amid ongoing tensions.

In a phone call late on Sunday evening with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pezeshkian discussed the latest regional developments, ceasefire-related issues, and diplomatic efforts led by Islamabad.

The president thanked Pakistan for its “serious efforts” to promote peace, expressing appreciation for both the prime minister and the country’s army chief.

Pezeshkian, however, sharply criticized Washington’s conduct, citing “continued breaches of commitments and bullying and unreasonable behavior” during negotiations and the ceasefire period.

He described the US’s “provocative and illegal actions” in the so-called naval blockade of Iran as “a clear violation of the ceasefire understanding and contrary to the United Nations Charter.”

“Such actions, along with threatening rhetoric by US officials against Iran, only lead to intensifying mistrust regarding America’s seriousness and further reveal that the US seeks to repeat previous patterns and betray diplomacy,” he said.

The president reaffirmed Iran’s “firm determination” to defend the country against any renewed “adventurism” by the US and Israel, warning of the broader implications such a scenario could have for international stability.

He also stressed Tehran’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening relations with neighboring countries, including those along the southern shores of the Persian Gulf, based on “good neighborliness and mutual respect.”

Pezeshkian expressed hope that regional states would, “in light of recent experiences,” work collectively to enhance peace and security without “destructive interference by extra-regional actors, particularly the United States.”

Sharif welcomes Iran’s ‘constructive positions’

Sharif, for his part, welcomed Iran’s constructive positions and dialogue, particularly during the recent visit of Pakistan’s army chief to Tehran.

He said Islamabad that with the support of its friends and partners, will remain fully committed to its sincere and genuine efforts to advance regional peace and security.

A two-week ceasefire was brokered between Tehran and Washington on April 8, allowing for mediated negotiations in Islamabad. Iran presented a ten-point plan during those discussions, which called for the withdrawal of US troops from the region, the lifting of sanctions, and sovereignty over the key Strait of Hormuz.

🔻 Israeli minister admits Tel Aviv’s role in dragging US into war with Iran

📌 Tehran, IRNA – The Israeli minister of agriculture has confessed that the Israeli regime has succeeded in dragging the Trump administration into a war with Iran.

According to the Palestinian Government Information Center, Avi Dichter admitted in an interview with the Israeli radio Reshet Bet that Israel has dragged the United States into a war with Iran.

The reality is that the political echelon in Israel, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer, have practically succeeded in leading the United States into a real war alongside Israel, and the results of this war are of great significance.

Claiming that Iran is the central axis of enmity with Israel, he said that having the United States alongside Israel in the war against Iran is something that has not happened since the establishment of Israel.

Without America, this would not have been done, he reiterated.

Earlier on Sunday, Kamala Harris, the former Vice President under Biden and the Democratic candidate in the US presidential election accused Netanyahu of leading the US president into military action against Iran, which the American people opposed.

Harris described the Trump administration as the most corrupt, brutal, and incompetent administration in US history, characterized the president himself as lacking self-confidence.

She noted that the war against Iran is a desperate attempt to divert attention from the Epstein Island documents.

Before the war, documents released about the sex trafficker and humanitarian criminal Jeffrey Epstein, who was an agent and spy for the Tel Aviv, caused a major controversy because there were pictures of Trump alongside this notorious criminal, raising the possibility that the US president is implicated in the crimes of the Epstein gang.

📌 Tehran, IRNA – First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref says Iran providing security for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway linking the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, is not free of charge.

One cannot restrict Iran’s oil exports while expecting free security for others, Aref wrote on his X network on Monday, referring to the illegal US maritime blockade in international water aimed at restricting Iranian vessels.

“The choice is clear: either a free oil market for all, or the risk of significant costs for everyone,” he said, adding that “Stability in global fuel prices depends on a guaranteed and lasting end to economic and military pressure against Iran and its allies.”

On Sunday, Aref said the Islamic Republic would maintain its wartime achievements, especially in the Strait of Hormuz that would allow the country not to wait for the lifting of illegal sanctions make them practically ineffective.

Iran’s Armed Forces tightened oversight of the strait and restored its previous status, with zero passes of ships after the United States continued its “repeated breaches of commitments” and engaged in “piracy and maritime theft under the so-called blockade.”

🔻 Envoy: As long as US’ naval blockade remains, fault lines remain

📌 Islamabad, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri-Moghadam has condemned the US’ unnecessary rhetoric and unreasonable demands and said as long as the naval blockade remains, fault lines remain.

“You cannot keep violating the international law, double down on your blockade, threaten Iran with further war crimes, insist on unreasonable demands, pace out with rhetorics and pretend to be pursuing diplomacy, Amiri-Moghadam wrote on his X account on Sunday.

“As long as the naval blockade remains, faultlines remain,” he added.

Earlier, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei emphasized that Iran will take appropriate measures whenever necessary, adding that the Strait of Hormuz remains under Iran’s supervision and that any continued blockade would be met with a firm response.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amir Saeid Iravani had said that the imposition of a maritime blockade constitutes a grave violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

On 12 April 2026, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) publicly declared that US forces would begin implementing a blockade of all maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports pursuant to a presidential proclamation.

📄 Iran urges vigilance in diplomacy, warns of US ‘conspiracies’ amid tensions

📌 Tehran, IRNA – Iran has warned that diplomatic engagement requires heightened caution, stating that vigilance during negotiations may be even more critical than in wartime, as the United States appears to be repeating its destabilizing and untrustworthy behavior.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said during a press conference on Monday that all components of Iran, with full commitment, are vigilantly following every process.

Responding to a question from IRNA’s correspondent, Baqaei said, “We must be cautious of the enemy’s conspiracies, and this, in my view, is the rational duty of the negotiating team and the entire system of governance.”

“We certainly cannot forget the very costly experience we have had over the past year; not even for a moment,” he said.

He added, “We cannot forget that the United States, on two occasions in less than nine months, betrayed diplomacy during negotiations, violated international law in the most severe manner, attacked Iran’s territorial integrity, martyred many of our prominent figures and Iranian citizens, and caused damage to Iran’s assets.”

The United States and Israel launched a war of aggression against Iran on February 28, assassinating Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and several top military commanders.
