There are many ways to plan for your future - tax savings is one of them ๐ŸŒฑ

โ€ข Donate to any approved IPC to enjoy tax deductions of up to 2.5 times the qualifying donation amount
โ€ข Contribute to your SRS for dollar-for-dollar tax relief
โ€ข Make cash top-ups to your and/or your family member's CPF, with a maximum of $16,000 (maximum of $8,000 for self, and $8,000 for family members)

#TaxCrimes Rickey Tan Yao Rong, a 54-year-old former car trader, has been convicted of Income Tax and Goods and Services Tax (โ€œGSTโ€) offences.

Tan was convicted of:
- 2 counts of making false entries in his personal income tax returns for the years of assessment (โ€œYAsโ€) 2018 and 2019, resulting in $260,773 in tax undercharged
- 1 count of failing to notify the Comptroller of GST of his liability to be registered as a taxable person, leading to $245,420 of GST due

Tan was sentenced to:
- 12 months and 2 weeksโ€™ imprisonment;
- Penalty of $806,861; and
- Fine of $3,500

We have received reports of scam emails with the subject heading โ€œSalutations: Your Eligibility Invitation has been Successfully Verified.โ€ The phishing email, purportedly from โ€œIRASโ€, states that the recipient is eligible for โ€œpositive financial adjustmentโ€ and includes a weblink that likely leads to a phishing website.

What you should do:
- Do not click on or download any attachments/programs
- Access any notices or letters from IRAS only via myTax Portal

The Government will provide a one-off Property Tax (PT) rebate of 15% for Owner-Occupied HDB flats, and 10%, capped at $500, for Owner-Occupied private residential properties in 2026. The rebate will automatically offset any PT payable and this will help Singaporeans mitigate cost-of-living concerns.
