InteRussia Opens Energy Fellowship for Experts from Latin America ⚡️

On 28 July, the InteRussia Fellowship Programme "The Changing Energy Landscape" officially opened at St. Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON), bringing together energy professionals from Latin America and the Caribbean.

The opening ceremony featured welcoming remarks by:

🔵Dmitry Vasilenko, Vice-Rector for International Relations at UNECON;
🔵Sergey Orlov, Deputy Executive Director of the Gorchakov Fund.

Welcoming the participants, Sergey Orlov highlighted the growing interest in cooperation between Russia and Latin America.

"We see strong interest in cooperation with Russia from Latin American countries. We hope this fellowship will give participants an opportunity not only to explore Russia's experience in the energy sector, but also to build long-term professional connections with Russian organisations and with one another."

This year, the fellowship welcomes participants from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, Peru, and Uruguay.

Over the coming days, the fellows will explore key issues shaping the global energy agenda, including international energy security, emerging energy markets, AI applications in the energy sector, hybrid energy systems, and Russia-Latin America cooperation.

The InteRussia Fellowship in Energy is implemented by Mezhdunarodniki Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation in cooperation with the Gorchakov Fund, St. Petersburg State University of Economics, the TV BRICS International Network, the Global Energy Association, the National Committee for the Promotion of Economic Cooperation with Latin American Countries (NC CEPLA), and the Russian Energy Agency (REA) of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation with grant support from the Presidential Grants Foundation.

Editorial Lab Russia-Africa: Exchange Media Expertise with Russian Experts 📣

On July 28, journalism fellows from African countries took part in the Editorial Lab Russia-Africa, an interactive workshop hosted by the IMA-press Communication Agency.

The event brought together experts in international cooperation, public communications, and media relations. Fellows heard presentations by: 

🤩Anton Slinchenko, Director of the International Cooperation Department at Business Russia;
🤩Nairui Grigoryan, Deputy Head of External Communications at the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Director of the Information Policy Department at the Russian Foreign Trade Academy;
🤩Yaroslav Yakubov, Senior International Manager at the Russian Export Center; 
🤩Daria Strelavina, Project Manager at IMA-press.

During the workshop, experts explored key aspects of Russia-Africa cooperation, strategic communication and effective engagement with the Russian media landscape.

The second part of the event focused on knowledge exchange: participants presented how media ecosystems operate in their home countries and discussed with IMA-press experts the similarities and differences between African and Russian approaches to news coverage. 

The session became a valuable platform for sharing professional experience and exploring new opportunities for media cooperation between Russia and Africa 🧡

The InteRussia Fellowship for African Journalists Concludes in Moscow ⤵️

The InteRussia Fellowship for journalists from Burundi, Cameroon, Kenya, Mozambique, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, Uganda and Zambia officially cаme to an end.

Over the course of the programme, participants explored the Russian media landscape, exchanged professional experience with leading experts and gained practical skills in multimedia journalism.

What did the fellows do during the programme?
🔷Attended lectures and practical workshops at the International Information Agency and Radio Sputnik, learning about Russian media, multimedia production and digital storytelling;
🔷Recorded their own podcast as part of the fellowship's practical training;
🔷Visited IMA-press Communication Agency, the African Initiative News Agency, the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and EFKO Company;
🔷Met with Sergey Ivanov, Executive Director of EFKO, and Georgy Borisenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, to discuss Russia-Africa cooperation and the role of media in international relations;
🔷Discovered Moscow through a sightseeing tour, a river cruise and a visit to the Ostankino TV Tower.

Throughout the fellowship, participants built new professional connections, exchanged perspectives with Russian colleagues and gained a deeper understanding of Russia's media environment.
