Today, we celebrate one of Russia’s most remarkable engineering achievements: the Day of Nuclear-Powered Icebreakers! 🛳💡

Nuclear-powered icebreakers, like the legendary Arktika and Sibir, are giants of the Arctic seas. Equipped with powerful RITM-200 nuclear reactors, they can plow through ice up to 3 meters thick while maintaining year-round navigation. These vessels are essential for Russia’s Northern Sea Route, making Arctic shipping possible and boosting economic growth.

Our university is a leader in nuclear engineering, training the brightest minds to work on cutting-edge technologies like the RITM-200 reactors that power these vessels.
