❤️‍🩹 Yesterday, February 4th, was World Cancer Day

MEPhI actively contributes to improving cancer treatment by introducing new technologies and approaches to therapy.

🫶 The Institute of Physics and Biomedical Engineering (PhysBio) at MEPhI (https://t.me/physbio_mephi) has been training highly qualified medical physicists for over 20 years, helping in the fight against cancer.

❓What does this look like in practice?

A doctor diagnoses the disease and selects the treatment method. Then, the work of a medical physicist begins. They plan radiation therapy sessions or calculate radiopharmaceutical doses for radionuclide therapy, considering the patient’s individual characteristics. Beyond therapy, medical physicists also play a crucial role in diagnostics, working with MRI, CT, SPECT, and hybrid imaging systems.
