The Day of Nuclear-Powered Icebreakers ❄️ ⚡️
Today, we celebrate one of Russia’s most remarkable engineering achievements: the Day of Nuclear-Powered Icebreakers! 🛳💡
Nuclear-powered icebreakers, like the legendary Arktika and Sibir, are giants of the Arctic seas. Equipped with powerful RITM-200 nuclear reactors, they can plow through ice up to 3 meters thick while maintaining year-round navigation. These vessels are essential for Russia’s Northern Sea Route, making Arctic shipping possible and boosting economic growth.
Our university is a leader in nuclear engineering, training the brightest minds to work on cutting-edge technologies like the RITM-200 reactors that power these vessels.
The major programs where you can become part of a scientific team to work on the development of the nuclear-powered ships are:

🚀 MEPhI Launches Joint Laboratory with SMART Technologies! 🧑🔬
On December 2, a new joint educational and applied laboratory was opened at MEPhI in partnership with SMART Technologies, a leading Russian IT integrator and software developer. This state-of-the-art lab is located within the MEPHIUS Full Cycle Microelectronics Design Center in the Research and Laboratory Building.
The laboratory will work in three main areas:
🔹 Educational: Training the next generation of innovators.
🔹 Applied: Solving real-world challenges with cutting-edge microelectronics.
🔹 Events: Hosting workshops, hackathons, and industry meetups.
Ivan Bantsov, Director of the Integrated Projects Department, shared his excitement:
"Once upon a time, MEPhI gave a great start to students, sending them into orbit as highly skilled professionals. Now, it’s time to share the knowledge we’ve gained along the way. We’re thrilled to work with MEPhI to support current students and help them reach new heights. Thank you for this amazing opportunity!"

From November 27 to December 1, the 2nd International Student Olympiad in Mathematics RUDN MATH OLYMP brought together some of the brightest mathematical minds from around the world. Hosted by the People’s Friendship University of Russia (RUDN), this prestigious event welcomed 790 participants from 70 universities across 16 countries, including Algeria, Brazil, India, and the UK.
Our MEPhI students showcased their exceptional mathematical talents, bringing home impressive awards! 🎉

On November 30 – December 1, 2024, MEPhI students showcased their exceptional skills at HITCTF-2024, a high-stakes international cybersecurity competition hosted by the Association of Technical Universities of Russia and China and organized by Harbin Polytechnic University (HPU).
This "Capture the Flag" (CTF) tournament united top teams from across the globe, challenging participants to solve complex cybersecurity tasks while fostering innovation, collaboration, and technical mastery.
