Even so not many can afford or do wish to pay 8 usd per month for something that shouldn't require money (to be verified as a real person). Paying to be verified means more scammers will take advantage because "we are paying for this". The rest of the benefits are thrash or with low impact, thats why the push to pay 8 usd to keep your verified badge and ultimately protection against impersonation on twitter. What will happen is not many will pay as the real people who will benefit of the badge and already do benefit some of them, can't really afford to pay 8 usd per month for nothing really and big creators feel that twitter should pay them not the other way around.
