More farms spontaneously combusting. The trend has accelerated greatly since last year, when I started reporting on it:
____

“Hay bale and barn fires on farms in East Sussex were started deliberately, police have said. The fires at Beddingham, Alfriston, Tarring Neville and Litlington happened between 2 and 7 November. Police are working with the fire service to find who is responsible and have increased patrols in the area.

Sgt Jon Attfield from the Sussex Police rural crime team described the attacks as "disturbing".

"This is a highly destructive crime that impacts our farming community and livestock supplies," he said.”

Rolls-Royce To Develop Mini Nuke Reactors To Decarbonize Power Grid

In a world where ESG is all the rage, and the transition from coal to cleaner energy sources is paramount, the UK has become the latest country to embrace nuclear power.

According to a company press release, Rolls-Royce Holdings Plc raised $617 million to fund "the next generation of low cost, low carbon nuclear power technology."

Rolls-Royce Group, BNF Resources UK Limited, and Exelon Generation Limited will develop small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) that will allow the country to meet net-zero commitments. SMRs will be built in the UK and open for export to customers worldwide.

With every passing week, our core thesis set here last December (see "Uranium Stocks Soar: Is This The Beginning Of The Next ESG Craze") is that nuclear would be widely embraced as a net-zero enabling technology for power grids.

Warren East, the Rolls-Royce CEO, adds, "the SMR program is one of the ways that Rolls-Royce is meeting the need to ensure the UK continues to develop innovative ways to tackle the global threat of climate change.

"With the Rolls-Royce SMR technology, we have developed a clean energy solution which can deliver cost-competitive and scalable net-zero power for multiple applications from grid and industrial electricity production to hydrogen and synthetic fuel manufacturing," East said.

SMRs are a much cheaper solution than big nuclear power plants that have been in use for more than half a century. Nuclear power will be at the heart of Britain's strategy to reach net-zero carbon emissions in the coming decades, along with the rest of the world.

A combination of nuclear power via SMRs, renewables, carbon capture, and storage could be part of a balanced net-zero grid.

We've run out of alternatives': Vets carrying out pig abortions as labour shortage crisis continues

A shortage of butchers means that meat processors have been taking around 25% fewer animals than contracted, leaving farmers facing impossible choices to avoid overcrowding and the consequent breach of welfare standards.

Vets and farmers have made the "soul-destroying" move of carrying out abortion procedures on pigs because they have "run out of alternatives".

It comes as many can no longer cope with the backlog of animals on farms. The National Pig Association (NPA) suggests 11% of farmers have already culled healthy pigs, with a further 10% saying they will need to do so within the next two weeks.

Officially only 16,000 such kills have been logged with the NPA, but this figure is based on self-reporting and is likely a gross underestimate, with the reality more likely thousands, possibly tens of thousands killed but not destined for the food chain a week.

Farmers, vets and the industry alike have said what's currently happening is the worst culling of healthy animals in the history of
UK pig farming, describing the situation as "sickening", "unforgivable" and a situation caused by "human error".

Bird flu madness continues in #UK: 27,000 ducks to be killed, and the "temporary control zone" authorizes DEFRA to cull backyard chickens within a 5-10km radius of the single SUSPECTED report:

____
Aughnacloy: 27,000 ducks to be culled over SUSPECTED bird flu

Twenty-seven thousand ducks are being culled after a suspected case of bird flu was reported in a commercial flock in County Tyrone.

A temporary control zone has also been put in place at the Aughnacloy site.

UK faces largest-ever outbreak of bird flu

“We have taken swift action to limit the spread of the disease including introducing housing measures,” said Chief Veterinary Officer Christine Middlemiss. “However, we are seeing a growing number of bird flu cases both on commercial farms and in backyard birds right across the country.”

All bird keepers, regardless of the number of birds, are legally required to introduce higher biosecurity standards on farms or small holdings.

Also, anyone keeping 50 birds or more must register their flocks with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

UK ‘bribes’ farmers to STOP FARMING
_
A government scheme to pay farmers up to £100,000 to help them retire is set to open for applications in April.

Long-awaited details have been published on Defra's Lump Sum Exit Scheme, part of a drive to encourage older farmers to leave the industry and pass on their land to a new generation.

To be eligible, farmers will need to surrender their BPS entitlements and dispose of almost all their agricultural land by sale or gift.

UK: The National Farmers’ Union has warned of a huge drop in UK-grown crops, including a drop of up to 50% in the amount they can afford to grow due to explosion of prices of gas used to heat glasshouses.

producers are saying the number of cucumbers that will be grown annually could fall from 80m to 35m, while pepper production could halve from 100m. She also added that inflation was leading to dramatic rises in other areas, citing the example of the cost of raising a chicken increasing by 50% in a year for farmers.

CHICKEN CRISIS: The cost of chicken could rise by up to 30 per cent. The UK environment secretary warned as he said that more expensive food was “inevitable” after the invasion of Ukraine.

George Eustice said that the government was considering delaying new regulation in areas such as obesity, climate change and environmental protection to minimise increases in shopping bills over the next months.

UK: Brit shoppers 'face fruit, veg and cheese shortages' after P&O ferry cancellations

Brits could face shortages in supermarkets with vegetables, fruit, cheese and wine among products not arriving after P&O suddenly cancelled services. After the firm axed 800 of its staff fresh fears have emerged that thousands of sheep may also have to be slaughtered.

Edward Adamson, a sheep farmer from County Antrim in Northern Ireland, said he may have to kill some sheep if the ferry crisis continues.

"There is no route to the UK mainland for us otherwise. We produce more animals than we need you see and we can't just keep them," he said, reported The Sun.

Biden pays farms to STOP Farming - EU out of Feed - Meat taxes & Chicken permits - Up to you to GROW FOOD!

Even as Biden and Trudeau announce food shortages, farmers are being paid to STOP farming. Chickens are now "illegal animals" in more municipalities, requiring a permit, "due to bird flu." The EU is culling livestock as they run out of animal feed, and the Netherlands is seriously considering a meat tax. -- And yet, there is a resurgence of regenerative agriculture and community victory gardens, as people realize it is UP TO US to feed our families going forward!

Christian breaks down the latest developments in the Food Wars in this Ice Age Farmer broadcast.

BREAKING: Massive fire engulfs large sausage factory in UK, somehow already 95% burned by time crew arrived.

IAF comment: these fires are now at ridiculous levels. Our food supply is spontaneously combusting at ludicrous speed.

By that I mean this: it is now reaching a level of “Revelation of the Method,” where even Tucker is speaking about the destruction of our food supply, yet multiple large facilities continue to erupt in flames every day.

It is unbelievable, like the poorly constructed narratives of many false flags, such as paper passports being magically found after 9/11…

The fires become an outright mockery of those of us who are paying attention. We are burning your food supply, and even telling you we're doing it, and you can't stop us!

—— Ignore the mockery -- keep planting that garden. ——

“A large fire at a sausage factory is being tackled by 10 crews from both Essex and Hertfordshire. Thick plumes of smoke can be seen across the town and the fire service has warned people to stay indoors and keep windows shut.

The fire service said when crews arrived the building was 95% alight and 100% smoke-logged.

“Shock report” reveals food prices could go up 15% over the summer, squeezing family finances further

Some families may have to skip meals as inflation continues to rise. The report also mentioned that the UK economy is facing its “strongest period” of inflationary pressure since the 1970s, with the conflict in Ukraine worsening the impact by restricting supply chains and pushing up grain prices.”

UK: Food prices could go up by 15% over the summer, adding to the stress on families facing rising petrol and energy bills. The Institute of Grocery Distribution (IGD) said in a report that households are set to pay more for essentials including dairy, bread and meat.

Possible foot and mouth disease case investigated at pig farm in Norfolk (UK)

A possible outbreak of foot and mouth disease is being investigated at a Norfolk pig farm - sparking major worries for the region's livestock industry.

Defra has enforced a 10km Temporary Control Zone for foot and mouth disease at a farm between Feltwell and Brandon.

The precautionary measure was put in place at 10pm on Thursday "following suspicion of vesicular disease in pigs".

European energy crisis has boiled over — things on the continent are about to change, rapidly and more absolutely than most can imagine:

- Germany: is restricting when and how energy companies can declare force majeure;

- France: has just nationalized the nation’s largest energy company, EDF;

- UK: announced they, too, would simply cut off natgas to the EU when supply is short (as the entire cabinet resigns);

- The EU has decided that nuclear and natural gas energy are green after all, a semantic change which only marginally lengthens the runway for their ‘decarbonization transition’

These are major moves that signal the hard landing ahead — brace for impact, my friends.

UK dairy farmers warn of price rises amid chronic staff shortages

Dairy farmers are warning that a chronic shortage of workers is hitting milk production and further fuelling food price inflation, and are calling for urgent action to stop the situation getting worse.

Eight in 10 farm owners looking for workers said they had received very few or zero applications from people with the right experience or qualifications, in response to a survey by Arla Foods, the UK’s largest dairy co-operative.
