📌 Showing off

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

“Ostentation, however little, annuls good deeds and (enters by any one of) countless doors. An action incompatible with the observance of the Sunnah is another thing that renders them vain.

Boasting in one's heart to God of some good act done, spoils it. Flaunting one's charity, virtue, generosity, personal virtue or liberality towards one's family, ruins these deeds, as Allāh
has said:

'O you who believe, do not render your almsgiving vain by reminders of your generosity or by injury.'

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

‎“Friday is the balance of the week, Ramadan is the balance of the year and Hajj is the balance of life.”

📌 Helping others

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

"Ibn Taymiyyah used to race towards the fulfilling of people's needs very earnestly, because he knew that every time he helped someone else, Allāh would help him."

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

‎• Key of prayer is purity

‎• Key of Ḥajj is Iḥrām

‎• Key of righteousness is sincerity

‎• Key of Jannah is Tawḥeed

‎[حادي الأرواح ٦٨]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

It is said,

'Patience is that intellect and religion stand firm when faced with lusts and desires.'

The meaning of this is that human nature runs after that which it loves, but intellect and religion prevent it. As such the two are at continuous war with each other, and this war has its ups and downs. The battlefield is the heart, patience, courage and firmness.

['Idatu'l-Sābirīn wa Dhakīratu'l-Shākirīn]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

‎"If the one giving charity knew that his charity falls in the hand of Allāh before the hand of the poor, the delight of the one giving would be more than the delight of the one taking."

‎[Madārij as-Sālikīn | 1/26]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله listed a few consequences of sinning/disobeying Allāh:

• Lack of success
• Corrupt views
• Blindness from truth
• Corruption of the heart
• Failing to remember Allāh
• Wasting of time
• Avoidance and hate by the creation
• Separation between the servant and his Lord
• Supplication not being answered
• Hardness of the heart
• Decaying of blessing in provision and age
• Prevention from attaining knowledge
• Humiliation
• Insults from the enemies
• Constriction of the chest
• Affliction with evil friendship, those who corrupt the heart and make one waste the time
• Prolonging of sadness and grief
• Miserable life
• and Disappointment

All this results from sinning and and neglecting to remember Allāh, just as crops are grown by being watered and are consumed by fire.

‎will be safe (from evil Insha'Allāh).”

‎[Zaad al-Ma’ad | 11/398]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

‎“It is not a matter of you loving Allāh;

‎rather, the matter is that Allāh loves you.

‎And Allāh does not love you unless you follow His beloved (ﷺ),

‎outwardly and inwardly.”

‎“Whenever Allāh, the Exalted prevents His believing servant from something during this worldly life, He will bestow upon him something which is better and more useful to him. It should be noted that this is only granted to the believers.”

‎ [al-Fawā’id]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:
