Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

"Your soul is just like your enemy,
‎once it finds you serious, it obeys you.

‎If it finds weakness from you, it will take you as a prisoner."

‎[Badā'i Al-Fawā'id | Vol. 3, Pg. 1202]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

“Whenever a person fears his Lord, he moves up to another level of guidance, so he keeps on increasing in guidance as long as he keeps on increasing in Taqwaa, he loses some guidance in accordance with the Taqwaa he missed.

He increases in guidance whenever he increases in Taqwaa and increases in Taqwaa whenever he increases in guidance.”

[Al-Fawā’id | Pg. 194-197]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

“Those addicted to desires end up in a situation where they get no pleasure from them, yet are unable to refrain from them.”

[Rawdat al-Muhibeen | Pg. 470]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

“Allāh reprimands (tests) His believing slave whom He loves, though he is dear to Him, for the smallest mistakes and slip-ups, in order to keep him alert and careful.

As for the person who fell from His eye and meant nothing to Him, He allows him to sin freely. In fact, every time he commits a sin, He grants him another blessing.

The deluded persons thinks that is because of his worth with Allāh, oblivious that this is the epitome of disgrace, and that He wishes for Him the fiercest torment, and the endless punishment.”

[Zad al-Ma'ad | 3/506]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

‎“Know that passing thoughts are not harmful.

‎Indeed, they are only harmful if they are sought after and engaged.

‎For a thought is like a passerby on the road; if you ignore him, he will depart from you.”

‎[al-Jawāb al-Kāfī | 1/157]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“When there is money in your hand and not in your heart, it will not harm you even if it is a lot; and when it is in your heart, it will harm you even if there is none in your hands.”

[Madārij as-Sālikīn | 1/26]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“The most precious reward during life is to busy yourself with the most suitable and useful matters in their exact and suitable time.”

[Al-Fawā’id | Pg. 55]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“The extent of the servants desire for the world and of his pleasure with it determines his slackness towards obedience of Allāh and seeking the Hereafter.”

[al-Fawā’id | Pg. 180]

Whoever wants the aid Of Allāh:

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah would search a lot to find people to help them with their needs. This was because he knew that everytime he helped someone then Allāh would aid him.”

[Rawdat al-Muhibbeen | 1/168]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:
Some of the Salaf said:

“Were it not for the trials in this world, we would be arriving bankrupt on the Day of Judgement.”

[Zaad al-Ma’aad | 4/176]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

‎“Friday is the day when the people of Paradise will receive the ever-increasing reward. It is the day when they will see Allāh, the Exalted. Those who were the earliest to go to the mosque on Friday will be the first to receive this honor. Thus, the nearest to Allāh were those nearest to the Imam on Friday. The residents of Paradise are eager for Friday, the day of such increase, due to the honor they will receive on that day.”

[Zaad Al-Ma’aad | 1/59-65]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

“Everything around you is a witness for you, when you engage in the remembrance of Allāh,

The land, the mountains and the ground will testify for you on the Day of Judgement…

Increase those witnesses for yourself for that day.”

‎[الوابل الصيب ٨١]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

“Whoever abandons habits for the sake of someone or something other than Allāh, will surely suffer hard and difficult times.

However, whoever abandons habits for the sake of Allāh
sincerely from his heart, he will not suffer from leaving it except at the beginning so that his credibility will be examined. If he bears this pain it will be turned into pleasure.”

[Al-Fawā’id | Pg. 174]
📌 Reasons for Unanswered Du’ā

“And such is du’ā, for it is one of the strongest factors that repels evil, and brings about desired good.

However, it is possible that its effects are not seen, either because of a weakness in the du’ā — for example, the du’ā is not beloved to Allāh, since it contains in it transgression, or because of a weakness in the heart of the one making du’ā. So the heart does not turn to Allāh
, and unify its energy in asking for it while it makes the du’a, so it is like a very weak bow, from which the arrow leaves with weakness.

Another cause for which the du’a is not answered is the presence of a preventing factor, such as eating haram sustenance, or being unjust, or there being a layer of filth due to sins over the heart, or that the heart has been overtaken by play and heedlessness.”

[Du'ā: The Weapon of the Believer
| Pg. 165-166]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“Every single one from the Companions turned in repentance and obedience to Allāh so it is obligatory to follow their path, their statements and their beliefs.”

[I’laam al-Muwaqaeen | 4/120]
