Ibn Al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“Loving knowledge is from the signs of delight and happiness. Hating knowledge is from the signs of wretchedness and misery.”

[Miftaah Dar As-Saa'adah | 1/435]
Ibn Al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

"Never do the love of song and the love of Qur'aan come together in a person’s heart except that one expels the other."

[Madarīj as-Salikeen | Vol.1. P. 487]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

Causes of happiness are three:

• Gratitude
• Patience
• & Seeking Allāh's Forgiveness

[مفتاح دار السعادة]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

“Anger is like a lion; if it's owner sets it free it will eat him. Desire is like a fire; if it's owner starts it, it will burn him. Pride is like fighting against a king to take his Kingdom, if it does not destroy you it will expel you, and envy is like showing enmity to one who is more powerful than you. Whoever overcomes his desire and anger, Satan will depart from him, and whoever's desire and anger beat him, Satan will stick to him.”

[al-Fawā’id | Pg. 267]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

"When Allah granted Prophet Yusuf (`alayhis-salaam) physical beauty - it caused him to be locked up in the prison; but when Allah granted him knowledge (when he interpreted the dream of the king) it not only took him out of prison, but elevated his rank in society; clearly showing us the virtue of knowledge and that physical beauty does not mean anything."

[Al-‘Ilm wa Fadhluhu wa Sharafuhu | P. 32]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

"Allah promised you pleasures of the hereafter, so do not be in hurry and seek them in this worldly life as you are cutting plants before their harvest time, while they are much better if you wait. Likewise the pleasures of the hereafter, are so much better."

[Al-Fawā’id | Pg. 66]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

‎“Dhikr (remembrance) of Allāh whips Shayṭān and hurts and tortures him like the whipping of rods...”

‎[بدائع الفوائد ٢\٢٥٦]
Ibn Al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

If you are studying the deen and not realising your own ignorance then your ilm is not benefittng you. If it is only increasing you in arrogance then your intention is not sincere. Re-evaluate and start again.

I have discovered from my own experience that whenever someone increases in knowledge, they discover how much greater their ignorance is.”

[The Souls Journey After Death | Pg. 37]
Ibn Al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“Friday is the day when the people of Paradise will receive the ever-increasing reward. It is the day when they will see Allah, the Exalted. Those who were the earliest to go to the mosque on Friday will be the first to receive this honor. Thus, the nearest to Allah were those nearest to the Imam on Friday. The residents of Paradise are eager for Friday, the day of such increase, due to the honor they will receive on that day.”

[Zaad Al-Ma’ad | 1/59-65]
Ibn Qayyim رحمه الله said:

"If you were to taste the pleasure of the hereafter, your drunken heart would sober up."

[al-Fawā’id | Pg. 119]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

"Allāh becomes angry if you abandon asking Him whereas the sons of Ādam become angry when asked."

[مدارج السالكين ٢/٩٨]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

"How will one be given enlightenment to a good end (death), whose heart is heedless from the remembrance of Allāh, follows his lusts and whose affair is ever in neglect?.”

[Ad-Daa' wad-Dawaa' | P. 219]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“The most beneficial remedy is that you preoccupy yourself with thoughts of what should concern you and not those that should not concern you. Thinking about what does not matter to you is the door of every evil. Whoever reflects upon what does not concern him, then he will miss what does concern him.”

[al-Fawā’id 1/175]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

"The most intelligent one is he who complains about his grief to Allaah (alone)."

[Al-Fawaaid | Pg. 127]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

‎“Everyone will pass through times of sleep and neglect (following his lusts), but do not sink into sleep as the morning of the hereafter is close at hand.”

‎[al-Fawā’id | Pg. 66]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

The traveller will reach his destination if he continues on his way, adheres to the right path, and wakes up at night (for worship). But he who strays from the right path and sleeps at night, how can he reach his destination?.”

[al-Fawā’id, Pg. 160]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

It has been said: ‘Sincerity is to forget the creation seeing you because of continually looking towards the Creator. Whoever adorns himself before the people with what he does not possess, has fallen from Allah’s grace.’

[Madarīj al-Salikeen | 2/70]
Ibn Al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

"Many ignorant people relied on the mercy of Allaah, and His pardon and generosity, and neglected His commands and violated His prohibitions, and forgot that He is severe in punishment."

[Ad-Daa' wa Dawaa' | Pg. 41]
Ibn Al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

‎“The pious man will leave this worldly life while he did not obtain satisfaction in two matters: crying for himself and praising Allah.”

‎[al-Fawā’id | Pg. 55]
Ibn Al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“How strange does it seem, that these tests which weigh a ton on our chest today will one day elevate us. Elevate us so high, that we will thank Allāh. We will thank Him for testing us, for loving us and for giving us more than anyone could imagine.”

[Al-Fawā’id | Pg. 119]
