Travelogue ๐ฑ๐ฐSri Lanka #6: A tropical train ride
โถ๏ธ While Sri Lanka isn't a huge country it does take a while to get down from the highlands (=mountainous region) and reach the capital Colombo. But the ride is worth every mile (=completely worth it). Feel the cool heat from the open (or non-existing) window and enjoy the lush (=plants having many leaves and looking healthy) green of the tropics!

Travelogue ๐จ๐ณChina #8: Uyghur nan
โถ๏ธ The name is the same: Nan in Uyghur, non in Uzbek, naan in India and elsewhere. Let's compare Uyghur nan and Uzbek non:
SAME
- It's very local. Different places have different styles of it.
- It's baked in a tandir (=traditional oven).
- People don't mind it being stale (=unfresh bread).
DIFFERENT
- It's flatter and less fluffy (=full of air) and is usually covered with small pieces of onion.
- It's not eaten with every dish. Uyghurs have nan on its own or dip it into etken chay, a salty milk tea for breakfast.
- There's a lot of innovation. New flavours, fillings, shapes and sizes have appeared, but maybe those are for tourists.

Travelogue ๐ฏ๐ตJapan #23: Quiz
โถ๏ธ Here are some Japanese dishes. Three of them are plastic imitations (=copies), just to show customers. Can you spot the real one?

Travelogue ๐ฎ๐ฉIndonesia #15: Wow! Foreigner!
โถ๏ธ It's not that I enjoy so much attention, but I like it because people are authentic (=not fake). After all, excitement about foreigners is a sure sign that you're in a place that is unspoilt (=not turned bad) by international tourism.

Travelogue ๐น๐ทTurkey #3: Old as hell
โถ๏ธ Present-day southeastern Turkey and parts of Iraq, Syria and Lebanon form the so-called "Fertile (=can support life) Crescent (=half moon)", the place where humans first settled down and started to farm over 10,000 years ago.
๐ฅShock! Telling by (=looking at, knowing from) the sculptures and paintings these prehistoric (=from before the first civilisations) humans left behind, wild boar (=wild pig) seemed to be their favourite animal. ๐
