An outpouring of online anger at a video of a mother of eight children locked up in a hut with a chain around her neck forced officials in Xuzhou in eastern China’s Jiangsu province to intervene to free the woman. The video on the Chinese platform Douyin went viral and sparked debate among shocked netizens about governance and women’s rights in rural China. Viewers questioned how the woman was able to give birth to eight children under the country’s strict family planning controls. The woman was sent to a hospital and her children were placed in state care, said local authorities, who opened an investigation of her husband.

烏克蘭國家邊防局指出，在3月14日在羅馬尼亞和烏克蘭邊境，兩名持中國護照的男子帶著2個年幼小孩，試圖通過切爾諾夫策（Chernovtsy）邊境的波鲁布涅哨站，並步行至羅馬尼亞，然而遭截停時2人卻拿不出嬰兒的身分證明文件。邊防人員之後發現，2名中國人早前入境烏克蘭時都沒有帶同孩童，面對提問則支吾以對，無法解釋嬰兒來處。兩人目前已被拘捕候查。

The Ukraine border guard service found out that the two Chinese men had entered the country earlier with no children. The two men have now been detained for further investigation.
有在波蘭的人權組織表示，有大量烏克蘭的父母因為種種原因迫於讓幼童獨自上路，跨越邊境尋找親友。幼童在巨大的壓力下非常容易接受陌生人幫助。
Traffickers are targeting parentless children on the Ukraine-Poland border, says a group evacuating orphanages in the war zone. They say thousands are unaccounted for and fear some may already have fallen prey to people traffickers.
