[Statement in Response to Allegations of American Funding and Disbandment]
Since the founding of the Civil Human Rights Front (CHRF), we have never received any sort of funding from foreign governments or organisations, including the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). We have always relied on Hong Kong citizens' donations from protests to run our organisation.
Therefore, the claim that we are allegedly being investigated on receiving American funding, which could be seen as an act violating the National Security Law, had us dumbfounded, and the CHRF takes this opportunity to advise all to recognise and acknowledge the facts.
Furthermore, regarding the news that the CHRF may be disbanded by the government, our take is that once this regime targets a person or organisation to condemn, it always manages to find an excuse to do so. We ask HongKongers to just do their best during this difficult time of incessant political suppression.
