Wish granted. You get everything you've ever wanted, every ambition you've chased, very desire you've longed for, every future you've imagined slowly becomes yours. At first it feels like you've beaten fate itself, then your dreams begin to come true, not your aspirations...your dreams. The ones you have after you fall asleep, the nightmares.
The shadow that stood at the foot of your bed. The endless hallway that never had an exit. The faceless strangers watching you from the dark. The screams you heard with no one there. The loved ones you watched die. The impossible creatures your mind was never meant to create.
Morning after morning another nightmare escapes into reality. You stop sleeping, hoping to stop dreaming. It doesn't matter, the longer you stay awake the more vivid the nightmares become and when you finally collapse from exhaustion...you create something even worse.
