After 18-months of massive anti-regime protests, the way of ending democracy in Hong Kong was four lawmakers were disqualified by Beijing and remaining pro-democracy legislative council members have resigned en masses. Itās not just about Hong Kong. Itās about Xinjiang and Chinaās takeover of key United Nations agencies, its abusive manipulations of the World Trade Organization, and its āhostage diplomacyā in one country after another.
Justin Trudeauās government canāt follow the allies of āFive-Eyesā to ban Huawei in the core 5G internet connectivity technology. Canada lacks a foreign-agents registration law.
It remains to be seen whether Canada will join the consensus, or remain on outlier.

Diane Francis: Trudeau fiddles as Beijing burns us
Canada is the only Five-Eye country that has not banned Huawei from its network. The Conservatives introduced a motion last week seeking to force Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to make a decision on Huawei in the next 30 days.
China has held two innocent Canadians hostage since 2018, as payback for the arrest of a Huawei executive on a U.S. extradition warrant. China has also abrogated billions in agricultural trade contacts with Canada. Yet the prime minister ignores the fact that four out of five Canadians want actions taken against China for these and other misdeeds.

UK and US lock in behind Australia in China row
Australia's allies aim for China's campaign of 'disinformation.'
Fake photo tweeted by the Chinese Foreign Minister Zhao Lijian has gotten the attention of Australia's international allies of the Five Eyes, namely the US, UK, Canada, and New Zealand.
A spokesperson for the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said, "Disinformation is an issue we take extremely seriously and we will continue to coordinate closely with Australia and other international partners to ensure our citizens are protected."
The US ambassador to Australia, Arthur Culvahouse, also stated that "The world can only wish that the Chinese Communist Party were to bring the same degree of transparency and accountability to credible reports of atrocities against the Uighurs in Xinjiang."
Australia's Prime Minister Scott Morrison reiterated, "The post of a false image of an Australian soldier does not diminish our respect for and appreciation of our Chinese Australian community or indeed our friendship with the people of China." He makes clear that the escalating tensions between the two governments were not a reflection on Chinese Australians.
