Scott Morrison demands apology from China over 'repugnant' tweet showing Australian soldier threatening to kill child

Recently, China's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian tweeted a fake image of an Australian murdering a child with the caption: "Don't worry, we are coming to bring you peace!" Also, he added that it "fully exposed the hypocrisy of human rights and freedom these Western countries are always chanting".

The photo appears to be a reference to a rumor that members of the SAS murdered two 14-year-old boys suspected to be Taliban sympathizers, which was proven to be false during a four-year-long inquiry into the events.

The Australian government have demanded an apology, stating that "It is utterly outrageous and cannot be justified on any basis whatsoever, the Chinese Government should be totally ashamed of this post."

After the photo went viral, the Acting Immigration Minister Alan Tudge held a teleconference with Chinese Australian community leaders, stating that the "shameful and offensive image" didn't represent the views of the Chinese Australian community.

"The differences between our governments do not take away from the contribution that generations of Chinese migrants have made to Australia," Alan said.
