Police Provokes Citizen Who Was Trying to Go Home

A citizen told the police that his route back home was being blocked. However, the police replied, "Do I need to escort you home?" The citizen refused, saying that he was not sure who the police were, as they did not display any warrants. The police then mumbled, "Rubbish," at the citizen's response.

From the video, the officer was clearly trying to provoke the citizen, going to the extent of insinuating that they "were trying to cause trouble", and that he "was not afraid of trouble."

Plainclothes Police Pepper-sprayed by Colleagues

1738 | #SheungShui

During arrests in Sheung Shui, riot police repeatedly pepper-sprayed citizens, as well as a plainclothes police officer. He made clarifications as to his identity, and had to show his warrant card in order to stop being pepper-sprayed. The officer was in agony, and needed help from his colleagues to leave.

Editor's note: It is not the first time police officers had hurt their co-workers "accidentally", and it is worth thinking whether police had deployed "reasonable force", or whether they were just attacking civilians indiscriminately.

Riot police searched Voluntary First-aiders, taunted reporters to take mugshots to reveal their identities

Concerned about the nuisance caused by parallel traders to Sheung Shui residents, a March was organised yesterday (5 January) in the border city, which ended with riot police rounding up dozens of protesters, mostly young and clad in black, deploying pepper-spray and rubber bullets after a short standoff.

On the city side of Hong Kong, riot police was equally reckless, as they stopped and searched 2 to 3 voluntary first-aiders in Mong Kok in late afternoon. During the search, reporters were prompted to take photos, “go take mugshots, [they] don’t have First Aid pass”, one officer taunted.
