"Say No to Security Law": Gigantic Banner Appears on Beacon Hill

A gigantic banner, which is 1m wide and 10m long, reading "Say No to Security Law", was sighted on Beacon Hill in Hong Kong at 6am on May 28.

The Chinese Communist Party government has announced the insertion of the National Security Law to Hong Kong's constitution without the participation of Hong Kong's legislative body on the last day of their "two sessions" in Beijing.

Many Hongkongers have opposed the draconian measures which will erode human rights and the remaining freedom in Hong Kong. International community has also voiced concern over China's breach of the "One Country Two Systems".

The U.S. Secretary of State announced on May 27 that the U.S. does not recognize that Hong Kong is "autonomous from China".

#Banner on Hong Kong's #BeaconHill: "National Security Law, Total Loss of Freedom"

On the evening of October 20, 2020, a gigantic black banner which reads "National Security Law, Total Loss of Freedom" appeared on Hong Kong's Beacon Hill.

The National Security Law has been enforced in Hong Kong for nearly 4 months. Several people including Apple Daily founder Jimmy Lai and former Demosisto member Agnes Chow had been arrested. Meanwhile, a growing number of countries had suspended their extradition treaty with Hong Kong. Nevertheless, the Hong Kong Government insisted that the National Security Law has "safeguarded Hong Kong's stability".
