"Coloured water" Splashed by the HK Police Might Contain More than just Colourings, According to Greenpeace

Greepeace is running laboratory tests on the sample obtained from the blue-dye water cannon splashed by the Hong Kong police. Although the police called it "coloured water", citizens including former chairman of the Indian Association of Hong Kong Mohan Chugani and reporters who were splashed on suffered from reactions such as burning sensation.

According to Green Peace, initial results shows that the "coloured water" contains at least pigments and adhesives. Although the ingredients of "coloured water", and whether it contains harmful or toxic substances cannot be accurately determined at the moment, from various documents such as "Legislative Council Panel on Security Specialised Crowd Management", international references like "Handbook of Toxicology of Chemical Warfare Agent", expert advice and ciitzens' physical reactions after contacting, it is speculated that the "coloured water" might contain harmful teargas solutions (also containing Pelargonic Acid Vanillylamide Solution) or two other types of tear-provoking solutions CN (Chloroacetophenone) and CS (2-Chlorobenzylidene malononitrile). The water cannon shot by the Hong Kong Police is believed to contain not just colourings.

Despite that, in thoery, the "coloured water" has a lower fatal risk, it still causes severe and immediate discomfort to the human body. For example, the tear-provoking solution (Pelargonic Acid Vanillylamide Solution) has similar effect as pepper spray (Oleoresin capsicum).

According to the clinical research from "Hong Kong Medical Journal" on pepper sprays [Note 1], the solution has direct impact on the eyes and the respiratory system as follows:
c
➡️Eyes: Edema or erythema on eyelid, eye and face convulsions, blurred eyesight, cornea abrasion and tearing

➡️Respiratory System:
Impacts on throat, pulmonary edema and chemical pneumonia but are not common.

➡️The entire body: Research suggests individual cases had included symtoms like loss of direction, fear, loss of body control (for example, decline of eye and hand coordination), hyperventilation, tachycardia and pulmonary edema.

According to "Handbook of Toxicology of Chemical Warfare Agents", the "coloured water" may also be mixed with two types of tear-provoking toxic solutions CN (Chloroacetophenone) and CS (2-Chlorobenzylidene malononitrile), where the former is higher in toxicity [Note 2]. Both solutions have severe impact on the skin. The effect might fade away at its shortest time within an hour; however, if exposed to a highly concentrated dosage, the irritations can last up to four weeks. In severe cases, it can also cause first to second degree chemical burns. The following is an overview of the effects upon exposure:

➡️Skin: erythema, itchiness, subcutaneous edema, abnormal feelings of scorching heat, potentially inducing allergic reactions like contact dermatitis. If the skin is already moisted or damaged, the effect of intoxination is more obvious.

➡️Respiratory System: allergic inflammation, sneezing or causalgia, causing the feeling of burning pain and an increase of saliva, laryngitis and glossalgia. Severe pulmonary edema and bronchitis are potentially caused.

➡️Eyes: Permanent eye injuries, vesicle.

Our Financial Stalingrad against China

Editor’s Note: This is the first battle of Financial war by fellows in the financial sector.

We are a group of Hong Kong citizens concerned with the financial well-being of our city. When CUHK and PolyU were under siege last November, we launched a precision strike on Megvii Technology, a CCP-controled technology giant. We now declare that we have successfully strangled Megvii’s IPO plan to death, incurring them a loss of US$500 million.

As a Made in China 2025 frontrunner, Megvii is culpable for mass surveillance and suppression of Uighurs in Xinjiang. Not deterred by existing US sanctions, Megvii played dirty tricks in order to get listed in Hong Kong. This has alarmed much of Central and caught the attention of the US Treasury.

It is most delightful to watch one fall in the last mile. At the eve of Megvii’s hearing, we had voiced our concerns of it violating the listing regulations of HKEX as one. Tens of thousands of complaint later, we are relieved by the abortion of Megvii’s IPO, in no small part due to your wise decisions.

With neither chips nor dollars, Megvii has been effectively contained, a unicorn stranded in the humanitarian wasteland of Xinjiang.

We are also relieved to see that Sensetime, another Made in China 2025 candidate, has immediately suspended its IPO plan for Hong Kong, incurring a loss of US$750 million. We learnt that many Xinjiang- or Big Tech-related CCP firms are now having second thoughts about a Hong Kong listing.

However, such relieves are only temporary. As you and your esteemed colleagues has long realized, the maintenance of Hong Kong’s financial salient is a constant battle.

From time immemorial, Hong Kong has been the sole USD lifeline for the People’s Republic of China. If Beijing is set to destroy Hong Kong, we will destroy all of China, and we will know where the real stake lies. Now in the shadow of the National Security Law, the US is actively considering imposing financial sanctions on China. If China continues to free-ride on Hong Kong’s USD access, I fear we cannot but contemplate sanctions on HKEX, something no sane person wants to see.

To Beijing: You can either have the Law or an international financial centre. You cannot have your cake and eat it. Nothing is simpler than this.

Our words to China Concepts Stocks: Hong Kong is not your backyard. Nor is Hong Kong your USD ATM. What we do to Megvii, we are ready to do it to you. You have been warned.

In trust of your judgement,

Hong Kong Protestors
