[The World’s Changing Views towards China 1/2]
Three Lithuanian parliamentarians, Zygimantas Pavilionis, Audronius Azubalis and Ausrine Armonaite called on their government to establish a representative office in Taiwan to demonstrate support for democracy and freedom, and for closer bilateral trade, since Lithuania currently only recognises the Beijing government diplomatically. They were deeply impressed with Taiwan’s economic success and their spirit in fighting for freedom and democracy against the Communist PRC, to which the Taiwan Foreign Ministry responded with gratitude and hope.

Lithuania is aware of China Threat
#Lithuania saw China as its economic partner in the past and didn't notice the Communist Party dictatorship system. In fact, China’s ambition is as much of a threat as Russia to Lithuania, an ally of United States.
The Lithuanians became aware of Beijing's ambition to pursue intelligence and political interests, especially when China embassy in Lithuania involved in counter-demonstration against a Hong Kong support rally in #Vilnius.
China punishes harshly its critics, both economically and politically, silencing the countries that receive Chinese investment.

Pro-China Supporters Vandalized Commemorative Cross on the Hill of Crosses in Lithuania
Recently, a commemorative cross of an ancestor on the Hill of Crosses in Lithuania was discovered to have been written with the words "May Roachcock (the original wording included the word "cockroach" in Chinese, with its two characters reversed) rest in peace! May Hong Kong be restored to peace soon", which was suspected to be written by pro-China supporters.
The Hill of Crosses commemorates the history of the resistance and endurance of the Lithuanian people. Expressing hatred towards the protesters at this place is a blatant act of disrespecting history and the spirit of resistance. During the German occupation of Lithuania during World War II, concentration camps were built in Lithuania to slaughter Jews, writing the word “cockroach” here is an act of disrespect against Humanism and universal values.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Linas LinkeviÄŤius, wrote on Twitter on #Dec29 regarding the vandalism of the Hill of Crosses by Chinese patriots. She stated that such shameful acts would not be tolerated, and that Lithuanian officials were investigating the case thoroughly.
Editor's note: At the Hill of Crosses in Lithuania, visitors can purchase crosses of different sizes to write and display. However, the erected crosses cannot be destroyed or removed and re-erected.
