Riot police suddenly ran towards a man. Citizens shouted at the riot police and they walked away after confronting the citizen.

Citizens demanded the police to release the students at #PolyU. Citizens chanted "Liberate Hong Kong, Revolution of our Times”, “Five Demands, Not One Less” and sang "Glory to Hong Kong”.

Citizens then started to push forward the police cordon line at the Science Museum Road and shouted “Let us get in to save the students!”.

Near New Mandarin Plaza, a group of Chinese wearing bagdes that read "Exhibitors from China" took pictures of the citizens voicing support for students entrapped in #PolyU.

Editor's note: There have been cases of Mainlanders taking close-up pictures of protesters, and the photos have been spread on Chinese social media like WeChat. It has been a worry that the privacy of protesters would be invaded.

Councilors Entered PolyU, Hoping to Talk to the Trapped Citizens

21:12 | 5 members-elect of District Council, including Roy Kwong, had already entered the campus area of PolyU to search for and communicate with the civilians inside. According to Ronald Tse Man-chak, member-elect of the Tsuen Wan District Council, the Police set a deadline of 12 am and requested the 5 councilors to leave the campus before the deadline. He believed that the Councilors would keep that promise.

Citizens were very worried that the government would find excuse to disqualify the newly elected district councilors because of this incident. Tse urged the citizens to express their opinion in a peaceful way, so that the five councilors could communicate with the students inside and keep all of them safe.

A Retributive Remark? Carrie Lam: "No universal suffrage until HK gets politics right"

On Nov 25, 2020, Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam delivered her delayed Policy Address, after having consulted with Beijing. In her introduction, Lam cited from the Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping.

Lam blatantly told Hongkongers that there would be "no universal suffrage until Hong Kong gets politics right".

Lam also said in the TV forum that the authorities "cannot accommodate" those who "think that Hong Kong can become independent and determine its own future".

The Chief asked Hong Kong youths to work in the Greater Bay Area. Although the government will subsidize part of the salary as an incentive for firms and employees, Hong Kong youths have political concern about going to China.

Meanwhile, Lam called attention to the 300,000 "mainland Hongkongers" who had obtained a residenship in Hong Kong and Macau last year. Lam said these people in Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai and Guangzhou always asked her why they cannot vote in Hong Kong elections.

Lam also announced co-location arrangements, where Chinese jurisdiction would be applied in designated area within Hong Kong, to be carried out at the new Huanggang control point between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

This year, the Legislative Council has become different without the pro-democracy camp. During the Policy Address, government officials--including Health Secretary Sophia Chan and Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Erick Tsang--dozed off.

Among the pro-Beijing lawmakers, Tommy Cheung dozed off while Vincent Cheng kept twirling his pen. As former Secretary for Security and now pro-Beijing lawmaker Regina Ip checked out a photo of the sleeping Tsang on her WhatsApp, Christopher Cheung told his driver to collect hair crabs, with a worth of HK$9,600 worth, for him.

Ma Chun-man, better known as "Captain America 2.0", was arrested in Tseung Kwan O on charge of "inciting others to commit secession", the trial began on Nov 24, 2020 at West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts.

Prosecutors alleged that Ma shouted the pro-independence slogans for many times and committed the offence on 19 occasions from August 15 to November 22, 2020.

The defendant's bail application was denied. Chief magistrate So Wai-tak considered that Ma had high risk of reoffending as he was arrested for 7 times between August and November, and then ordered the case adjourned until February 10, 2021.

When Ma was taken to the detention room, he shouted for
three times, "Democracy is bought with blood and sweat!"

Carrie Lam Thanks Beijing But Not Hongkongers: "There are Seldom Hong Kong Civilians Next to Me”.

Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam delivered her 4th Policy Address on November 25, 2020.

At the end of the speech, she thanked the Beijing government for support and also acknowledged her family and friends to accompany her during difficult times.

When attending a TV forum in the evening, a reporter from Cable News asked Lam why she did not thank Hongkongers.

Lam replied that it was an “emotional” remark and that “only those close to you can give support during difficult times”.

She then said that "there are seldom Hong Kong civilians next to me”.
