Hong Kong Students Fighting for their Freedom of Expression and Right to Go To School

Part 1/5

After the mob attack in Fortress Hill and North Point last week, Cheung Chuk Shan College (CCSC) sent a notice to the parents suggesting that students should return to school in a group or the school will arrange teachers or extracurricular activity coaches (ECA) to escort students to the MTR station.

Students from CCSC and Clementi Secondary School organized the 'Stay Together" operation this morning, urging students to go to school together for their own safety. There were approximately 50 students who joined the operation. On their way to school, they chanted slogans such as 'Five Demands, Not One Less', and 'Hong Kong Police, breaking the law', some passers-by also joined the chanting and paid their respect.

Part 2/5

Tina, a Form 6 student from Clementi Secondary School, held a banner with the line 'Do not attack me, I'm just going to school'. She participated in the act because she was concerned that the 'Fujian Gang' would attack her schoolmates while they were returning to school. She also said that, while she passed by the Fortress Hill MTR station last Saturday (14/9) after her supplementary class, she saw a large group of people dressed in blue shirt with the words 'I love HK' gathering outside the station staring at young people. She was concerned as she heard a woman said to a person next to her, "I have already brought all the 'equipment'".

Carry, another Form 6 student of Clementi Secondary School, expressed her sadness of the mob attacks earlier this Sunday. She was also worried that these mobs who dressed in white shirt will attack other students in the name of 'protecting their homeland'. She then said she has to attend the supplementary class till 9pm after school. She said, all she can do is to try her best to keep herself safe and hopes the school can offer a pragmatic approach to protect the students.

Part 4/5

Yiu, a Form 3 student from Cheung Chuk Shan College, wore helmet and gas mask to school. He was frightened after what happened on Sunday. He said that the school doesn't want students to bring protective gears to school. However, the cause to his act is to hope that the school will address the incident and have students protected, since "the white-clad gangsters do not seem to carry a conscience."

Part 5/5

Cheung Chuk Shan College replied to Apple Daily earlier that the school had informed the parents the measures they have taken to ensure the safety of the students. Apart from monitoring the surrounding areas, the school also strongly suggest students return home immediately after school and not to loiter on the streets. The school advised students to take public transport that bring them directly to school and avoid from staying in areas near the North Point and Fortress Hill MTR stations.

Apple Daily reporter observed that a lot of students went to school by bus that directly arrive at the school front door. Besides, there was also a security guard guarding the area outside the school gate.

The school also claimed that students must leave school before 6 pm and suggested student leave in groups to protect each other. Meanwhile, the school also asked teachers and coaches to escort students who leave after 6 pm, if they had to attend extra-curricular activities to the MTR station under all circumstances.

Hong Kong Police Denied Assaulting a Watchdog Member Despite Being Captured by Video

Hong Kong Police said on 23 September 2019:

"An officer kicking a yellow object"

“it could be an object, a person, a bag or a vest"

"Do you think in this day and age, knowing full well that video cameras are everywhere, that any police officer would be so stupid to assault anybody in public?”

“It is an unfair game since the very beginning.”

On 31 August 2014, Beijing inserted political screening in the arrangement of Hong Kong's Chief Executive election. At last, the Umbrella Movement was triggered off, calling for the authorities to implement genuine universal suffrage as promised in Hong Kong's Basic Law.

Five years later, Hong Kong was caught in the midst of the anti-extradition law protests, calling for democracy. On 31 August 2019, the behavior of the Hong Kong Police Force has shocked the world by their indiscriminate attacks on civilians.

With all these happenings in the background, the following illustrated series will bring you to a lawless world where black and white could hardly be distinguished.
