The Post-National Security Law Era
It has been over 2 months since the National Security Law came into effect in Hong Kong. Numerous people, from ordinary citizens to prominent activists, have already been arrested for violating this Law. The first person who was charged under the NSL is a 23 year-old man who drove his motorcycle into the police while carrying a pro-independence flag. He was denied bail and his application to challenge this decision was also turned down. A lawyer who has previously defended other protesters believes the NSL is unconstitutional and strips the defendant of rights to which he would have been entitled under the common law system.

The Post-National Security Law (NSL) era (III) : Does handling everything “in accordance to the law” make it legitimate?
Within a month of the NSL coming into effect in Hong Kong, the police began to launch multiple high profile operations to arrest civil activists. Following the recent arrests of more than 10 people for participation in social movements and violating the NSL…

Letter from a fellow female protester
Please read carefully and take her words seriously.
The author of the letter below has safely fled to another country.
Special thanks to our sister for reminding Hongkongers to stay angry against the corrupted cops. We keep hearing this kind of sexual abuse time after time!
The content of the letter is as follows. [Note: younger protestors sometimes call older protesters “parents”]
Dear Parents and the Hong Kong Book of Freedom,
I am so sorry. Even after you have paid my tuition fees, I still decided to flee. As I was arrested by the police at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) during the protest on 1 October 2019, I now have no choice but to leave. My dear parents, I am so sorry to have wasted your well-intended efforts and kindness. I will pay it back after settling down in my new surroundings. But I want to mention one last thing. While I was under police custody, several police officers touched my breasts and even brazenly commented about how “it felt great”. This took place at a car park about 10 minutes’ walk from the location I was arrested in Tsuen Wan. My head was covered in a black cloth at the time and I dared not make any sound. I am sorry. While I am reluctant to mention it again, I believe there are more victims. I hope other Hongkongers can avenge for me. May glory be to Hong Kong.

Sculptor of dismantled Tiananmen statue says damage symbolic of Hong Kong struggle
The sculptor of a statue commemorating the victims of China's 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown said on Friday that its removal from a Hong Kong university was "brutal" but any damage would be symbolic of recent changes in the city under Chinese rule.
The eight-metre (26-foot) sculpture of anguished human torsos was one of the few remaining public memorials in the former British colony to remember the crackdown on pro-democracy protesters - a taboo topic in mainland China, where it cannot be publicly commemorated.

Two more Tiananmen monuments removed from Hong Kong universities
Two more Hong Kong universities removed on Friday public monuments to the 1989 Tiananmen protests in Beijing, following the dismantling of a sculpture commemorating victims of the crackdown at another university this week.
The removals at Chinese University and Lingnan University in the global financial hub came as authorities have been clamping down under a national security law imposed by China.
Human rights activists say the law is being used to suppress civil society, jail democracy campaigners and curb basic freedoms, but authorities say the security laws have restored stability after mass protests in 2019.

Hong Kong protesters allegedly attacked by Chinese activists in Southampton
Police are investigating after footage emerged apparently showing pro-Hong Kong demonstrators being violently attacked by a group of Chinese activists in Southampton.
The alleged incident occurred after a rally to mark the anniversary of the 2019 protests for democratic changes in Hong Kong.
Hampshire constabulary said they had received a report about a “hate-related assault” in Southampton, while Hong Kong community leaders denounced what they called a “blatant violation of the fundamental principles of freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and the right to protest”.
