Football Fan Detained by Hong Kong Police for Inciting Independence After Exclaiming "Long Live Liverpool"

Mr. Wat was investigated by the police for 10 minutes. Although he was later let go, he expressed to reporters that he has been a fan of Liverpool football team for 30 years.

Mesut Ă–zil excluded from Premier League, promises to continue speaking for justice

The new Premier League season began a month ago. Mesut Ă–zil, an Arsenal player currently banned in China after publicly supporting Uyghurs in Xinjiang, announced on his Facebook page that was omitted from the Premier League. This means that he has been deprived of the opportunity to play for Arsenal this season. Ă–zil said he would still fight for another chance, practice hard and speak against inhumanity without further commenting on the situation.

Ă–zil stated he has pledged his loyalty to Arsenal since signing his new contract in 2018 and was disappointed about his omission. He also said that he has been trying to remain positive and that he was looking forward to another opportunities, which have yet to occur.

Defiant Football Fans in Hong Kong Vow Support to Democrats Despite the Threat of #NationalSecurityLaw

During a premier league match in Hong Kong between football teams Kitchee and Eastern Long Lions held at the Mong Kok Stadium on the evening of March 19, 2021 at 8 pm, football fans applauded exactly at the 47th minute into the match.

The was the second time in the row the last week before where football fans clapped hands to rally support to the 47 democrats arrested for part-taking Legislative Council primary election and charged with "conspiracy to subvert state power".

Football fans clapped hands and chanted slogans such as, “rally support our fellow protesters till the end”, on at least four match days so far since the opening of the Premier League in Hong Kong in March 2021.
