US urged Beijing to reinstate the qualifications of two lawyers in the Hong Kong 12 case and stop suppressing Taiwan
US State Department spokesperson Ned Price indicated on Tuesday (2 Feb), that the Biden administration is in no hurry to engage with China, and said it would do so once it was in “lockstep” with its allies and partners, only then there will be engagement in several areas with China. He also said the US government is deeply concerned by China's attempts to disbar lawyers appointed by families in “12 Hongkongers’ case”, urged Beijing to respect human rights. In addition, he said China should cease its military, diplomatic and economic pressure against Taiwan
Ned Price said on Twitter, that the United States is “deeply concerned by China's attempts to disbar and harass human rights lawyers Lu Siwei and Ren Quanniu for representing the Hong Kong 12. We urge Beijing to respect human rights and the rule of law and to reinstate their legal credentials at once.”

US Announced New Guidelines for Government Interactions with Taiwan Counterparts
The US State Department announced new guidelines allowing the US government officials to interact more freely with Taiwan officials. Foreign media stated that the guidelines include allowing US and Taiwan officials to conduct working meetings in the Federal government building.
The spokesperson of the State Department, Ned Price, indicated that the new guidelines relax the regulations on US-Taiwan contacts and encourage the interaction between the US government and Taiwan to “reflect our deep unofficial relationship”.
Ned Price also indicated that the guidelines emphasize Taiwan as an energetic democratic society. In addition to being important security and economic partner of the United States, Taiwan also has a great power in the international community. He stated that the new guidelines provide the administrative department with clear rules for the implementation of “One China Policy” based on the “Taiwan Relations Law”, the “Three Joint Communiques”, and the “Six Guarantees”.

#US Government Condemns the Beijing and the Hong Kong Authorities for the Continued Erosion of Freedoms in Hong Kong
On October 21, 2021, the Department of the State of the United States issued a press release, condemning the "continued erosion of human rights and fundamental freedoms" in Hong Kong.
The US government expressed concerns over the "increase in politically-motivated prosecutions, including through the National Security Law, targeting Hong Kong’s teachers, labor unions, lawyers, journalists, health care workers, student unions, and individual citizens."
Ned Price, the department spokeperson, called on "the Beijing and Hong Kong authorities to release those unjustly detained and cease their crackdown on peaceful civil society organizations," and urge Beijing to "abide by its treaty obligations in the Sino-British Joint Declaration."
