Life Threathen by HKPF, German journalist leave Hong Kong, worse than war zone

(12 Nov) I left HongKong. After being gassed several times and being threatened with live ammunition, police told me to stop reporting immediately, leave the country and never come back. The situation in HK is serious and have no clue what happens next.

A CUHK student fled to Germany has a message to protesters, “Take care of yourselves, fight in your own way.”

A 22-year-old female CUHK student shared her exile experiences in Germany and her tough time, staying away from family and suffering from the sexual assault in refugee camp. Although she is eligible for a three-year residency permit in Germany, she feels conflicted while thinking of other protestors still in Hong Kong.

She hopes the German government can simplify the procedures of applying asylum for Hongkongers in the future and emulate the other counties in launching “lifeboat schemes”.

“Prepare for the worst, hope for the best,” she tells other protestors.

German Organisations Cover up Statue on Engels’s 200th Birthday Eve to Criticise CCP’s Suppression of Freedom

November 28 this year marked the 200th birthday of German philosopher and one of the founders of Marxism Friedrich Engels. In criticism of the CCP’s suppression of freedom in Hong Kong and in support of the democratic movements in Hong Kong, two German groups presented a performance art in Engels’s birth place, Wuppertal, North-Rhine Westphalia, by covering up a statue of Engels given to the city by China.

China gave a statue of Engels to Wuppertal in 2014. Two German groups, namely the Armin T. Wegner and the Else-Lasker-Schüler associations, arranged four artists to cover up the statue with a black cloth at 11 am on Friday local time (HKT 6 pm), to criticise the CCP’s suppression of freedom. The cloth was printed with the Chinese and German inscriptions, “Once the truth is revealed, nothing can hold it back.”

Germany’s prevarication on Huawei 5G is bleak news for the free world

It’s a quintessentially German solution that tries to stifle tough choices in complex procedures, ”Martin Schallbruch, a former German official, told Noah Barkin of the German Marshall Fund this week. No, he wasn’t talking about Brexit, but about Germany’s decision whether or not to let Huawei build its 5G network.

After more than a year of procrastinating in an attempt to see a powerful anti-Huawei alliance between her backbench MPs and coalition partners, Angela Merkel is ready to win in her usual way: obscure. According to Barkin, Berlin’s almost final political proposal is now being circulated among its ministries and, in the words of an anonymous official, “leaves everything wide open.”
