Water Cannon Vehicle Dyed the Mosque and Shops

(20 Oct) Jeremy Tam Man-Ho, legislator and member of Civic Party was at the scene, witness the whole process and he filmed the specialised crowd management vehicle (water cannon vehicle) driving down Nathan Road, passing Chungking Mansions and towards the Kowloon #Mosque, then stopping in front of the entrance of the Mosque. Without warnings of dispersing by flags nor broadcasting, the vehicle sprayed blue-dyed water at the Mosque twice, hitting reporters and bystanders, including South-Asians; some were even pushed to the ground by the force of the water cannon. Tam was also sprayed with the water mixed with blue-dyed and irritant and he felt unwell.

Passers-by and South-Asians who were sprayed in the eyes with the blue irritant, needed to be treated by saline for eye washing and mouth rinsing. Onlookers at the site described that after the Mosque was sprayed, it turned into a "Blue Mosque", and everyone "was dyed in blue as well". In addition, children walking pass the Mosque were also sprayed. The first-aid volunteers immediately wash the children's eyes and mouth to alleviate their discomfort. After the specialised crowd management vehicle left the Mosque, staff of the affected Mosque immediately wheeled out hoses to wash away the blue dye, and a number of passers-by also cleaned the Mosque's fences with wet wipes.

Citizens Helped Cleaning the Blue Dyed Mosque

(20 Oct) Reporters at the scene saw that both the interior and the exterior of the Mosque was affected, the entrance gates, the stairs, and the plants inside the entrance was tainted with blue water. Ah Fai, a local citizen and other citizens helped to clean the Mosque with tissue paper after the police left.

He knew that his actions does not help much, he said "we could only clean a small portion of the mess, the plants and leaves inside the entrance gates were also tainted with the pepper spray solution. Even the soil for the plants were tainted with dyed-irritant”. Ah Fai suspected that the police purposefully sprayed the Mosque with dye to provoke the religion, "You(the government) said you want to mend rifts, and yet you are the one creating these rifts, rifts between Hong Kong and all religions of the world, or at least a rift with #Islam!"

Indiscriminate Attack towards the crowd and #Muslim

(20 Oct) Jordan, a German who has lived in Hong Kong for seven years, said that the crowd in front of the Mosque were very peaceful and calm, they had not showed any violent acts, and yet the water cannon vehicle suddenly arrived at the gates and sprayed blue water at the crowd, causing at least two injuries, one of them was a believer inside the Mosque, "One got completely showered from head to toes, all is blue colour." Concerning the actions of the police, he bluntly said that what the police had done was ridiculous, inhumane, and unacceptable, and he encouraged the people of Hong Kong to stay strong and do not give up, "You are not alone, Germany is watching."
