Over 3,000 staff were mobilized from the disciplinary forces and medical teams. Chief Executive Carrie Lam, Police Commissioner Chris Tang, Secretary for Food and Health Sophia Chan and other government officials appeared at the site.

Carrie Lam denied the government's instruction as confusing and that the decision has obstructed the residents.

Civilians in Lockdown Area to Brace Themselves for At Least 48 Hours

During the compulsory lockdown of the Jordan area since 4am on Jan 23, 2021, the Hong Kong government claimed that food supply will be provided to the affected civilians.

The photos reveal the food supplied by the authorities, which constitute largely cup noodle, instant noodle, bread and canned food.

Whereas the residents complained about the confusion caused by the authorities, the latter insisted that the civilians were not obstructed.

#KwaiChungLockdown #Omicron Frustrated Kwai Chung Residents Hurl Abuses at Top Officials During "Visit"

A day after Hong Kong authorities forced two residential buildings at Kwai Chung Housing Estate into a 5-day lockdown, and at least another 4 in the same complex to undergo overnight lockdown for mandatory COVID-19 testing, the city's Chief Executive Carrie Lam paid a brief "visit" to those affected in the afternoon on January 23, 2022.

Lam was accompanied by Chief Secretary John Lee, Secretary for Transport and Housing Frank Chan, as well as bodyguards and government staff. The group of around a dozen were seen looking up occasionally at buildings that were put under lockdown for mass testing.

Angry residents were heard shouting insults at Lam asking her to stop putting on a show, while another man telling them to leave the "dangerous" area.

Others hurled obscenities at the officials, challenging them to "experience being trapped for 5 days".

Lam and her accompanying officials posed for government photographs, but did not answer reporters' questions. The group left the housing estate in only 15 minutes.

How China spies on the West

In December last year Oxford University students were offered £15,000 in prize money if they could solve challenges relating to the surveillance and tracking of devices and their users.

‘Huawei welcomes a selection of top-of-the-class students to their 2021 University Challenge’, the invitations read. The company added that the technology would be used for ‘business intelligence’ and ‘security services’.
