Mayor Isko calls for deportation of Chinese nationals selling products labeled ‘Manila, province of China’

//Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Thursday asked the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to deport two Chinese nationals for selling beauty products tagging the country’s capital a province of China.

//This was after he ordered the closure of several establishments in Sto. Domingo, Binondo for the mislabeling that he said counts as misrepresentation.

//The Manila mayor said the erroneous label is “unacceptable.”

//Binondo is a part of Manila, and Manila is a part of the Philippines. Manila is the country’s capital. It is not a province of China. And not even once did it become a part of China in any article or written history during our time and the time of our ancestors),” he said in a mayoral address.

//Domagoso also slammed the foreigners he said are disrespecting the country’s sovereignty.

//Bureau of Permits and Licensing Office Director Levi Facundo said they will revoke the mayor’s permit of the corporation. The FDA is also set to cancel Elegant Fumes Beauty Products, Inc.’s license to operate.

Two Chinese Businessmen to be Expelled from the Philippines for Branding Manila as a Province of China

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno", said on social media that he would expel two Chinese businessmen from the country. Their cosmetic products showed an address of "Manila Province, P.R. China". Besides, the city government found that the company did not get permission from the Food and Drug Administration of the Philippines and ordered the company to close down.

Levi Facundo, Director of Bureau of Permits and Licensing Office, who led the operation against the company, said that the department had received many complaints about the product's labels, which are from Binondo, Manila's Chinatown, after tracing. Facundo said these products were misrepresentation and considered as a basis to shut down the business automatically. "There is no Binondo in China. Binondo is in Manila. This is a serious insult, and we do not allow this" said Facundo.
