Error rate of Chinese Rapid test kits for COVID-19 is 80%, Chinese Foreign Ministry blames Czech for improper use

(28 Mar) Recently, the rapid screening of COVID-19 began to be used overseas and the error rate reached 80%.The Czech Republic, Spain and Turkey are all affected by this. The Czech government is currently negotiating cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Sciences. However, Geng Shuang, a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, disagreed with such news. He claimed on Twitter that the 80% error rate was due to "improper use by Czech staff."

The Czech Republic spent 14 million koruna (approximately USD 570,000) on purchasing Chinese rapid coronavirus test kits this month. On the 18 March, it dispatched military aircrafts to bring back 150,000 rapid test kits from Shenzhen. But after five days of inspection, the health department found that the error rate was as high as 80%. All inspectors are now subject to in-depth investigation.

Uighur exiles in Turkey persecuted by CCP's long arm

Istanbul has become the largest diaspora hub for Uighurs in exile. Uighurs and Turks share close linguistic, religious and cultural ties. For decades, Turkey has supported Uighur refugees fleeing from China.

Over the past few years, however, Turkish government's attitude towards #Uighur diaspora has changed due to China's growing diplomatic and economic influence over the country.

A dossier obtained by Axios dated from 2016 to 2017 provides rare proof that China is putting direct pressure on the Turkish government. According to these documents, the Chinese government accused Enver Turdi, a Uighur man fled to Turkey in 2014, of creating a pro-Islamic State website and participating in terrorism. China requested Turkey to arrest and extradite him. Turkey accepted the request and initiated criminal proceedings.

According to Turdi, what he did before escaping from China was just passing along information about China's abuses to the media and some overseas Uighur organisations. After his passport had expired, the #Turkey authorities placed him in a deportation facility and sent him to trial. A decision on his fate is still pending.

For the Chinese government, terrorism and extremism are just a convenient way to frame the religious and cultural activities of Uighurs. Signs of "religious extremism" include such behaviours as wearing long beards or refusing alcohol. This is why Hong Kong people are against the extradition bill and national security legislation.

Counter-terrorism and national security are often used as a pretext by #China to persecute dissidents, locally and abroad.

If the world does not stand up to China, the #CCP will extend its meddling hands beyond its boundaries and arrive on everyone's doorstep sooner or later.

Turkey Criticised China's Xinjiang Rule and Urged Respect for Uighur Turks Human Rights

On the Eve of the China National Day celebration, Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) raised concerns over Beijing's Xinjiang policy, including arbitrary practice against Uighurs. The party urged respect of Uighur Turks and Muslim minorities rights. The Chinese Embassy in Turkey issued a statement to show "strong opposition".

Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday, the Justice and Development Party spokesman Omer Celik said that Turkey had been closely monitoring human rights and freedom of belief in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR). He believed that the XUAR De-extremification Regulation, implemented in 2017, contained poor and arbitrary practices against Uyghurs, including arbitrary detentions, limitations of religious freedom and forced-teaching of Chinese. These incidents attracted international community attention, and the UN raised their concerns in reports on related issues.

China Suppression on Turkey, Erdoğan Put the Taiwanese Flag off the Shelf After the Tweet

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the president of Turkey, posted on Twitter appreciating the “friendly countries” for the blessings and supports on Saturday (31st October) with the “Blue Sky, White Sun, and a Wholly Red Earth and retroactively” flag to represent Taiwan. According to the source, under the suppression of China, the flag has already taken “off the shelf” on Sunday.

More than 51 hours have passed since the strong earthquake occurred in the Aegean region last Friday, making 62 death and 920 injured. The search and rescue work continues.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Twitter the night before yesterday that “the Republic of Turkey is very thankful to all friendly countries and international organisations in Izmir who showed their blessing and support after the Izmir earthquake.” He posted 100 national flags or international organisations flag on his three thank-you posts on Twitter, including “Blue Sky, White Sun, and a Wholly Red Earth and retroactively” flag.

Turkey, Iran, Pakistan rail link to China's Belt and Road

The governments of Turkey, Iran and Pakistan will revive a transnational rail service linking Istanbul, Tehran and Islamabad (ITI), one of the projects in China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

This project was launched in 2009 under the umbrella of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), a 10-member political and economic intergovernmental organization founded in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey.

China asked for additional guarantees from Pakistan and refused to give the complete concessional loan Islamabad.

That raises the question of how Pakistan will fund its railway network. Pakistan is expected to look for funding outside the BRI framework since China has no interest to offer financial support. China will lend political support to the ITI railroad because it complements the BRI. However, it still expects Iran, Pakistan and Turkey to bear costs and share risks if they wish to benefit from the trade and investment dividends a successful ITI railroad is expected to yield.

Hundreds of Uighurs protest Chinese minister's Turkey visit

ON Mar 25, nearly 1,000 Uighurs rallied in Istanbul as Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Turkey to focus on coronavirus vaccines and the countries' extradition treaty.
Turkey is using the Chinese firm Sinovac's CoronaVac jab in its inoculation effort and is currently negotiating new deliveries.

Uighurs in Turkey fears that China is making new shipments dependent on Turkey's ratification of an extradition treaty that the parliament in Beijing approved late last year.

The protesters waved sky blue flags of Uighurs separatists' self-proclaimed state of East Turkestan as they gathered in Istanbul's historic old town chanting "China, stop the genocide!"

Former Turkish PM joins Netizens in Condemning China for Suppressing the #Ugyhurs

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between #Turkey and the #PRC, the #ChineseEmbassy in Turkey co-organised a drawing competition with the Ministry of National Education, Turkey for Turkish youth, titled “China in My Dreams.”

Taking note of the event, many netizens uploaded pictures of Uyghur genocide with the hashtag #hayalimdekiçin (“China in My Dreams”), among which even include former Prime Minister #AhmetDavutoğlu.

These works include blue-shirted men sitting under the iron curtains of #Xinjiang concentration camps; a #Uyghur little girl silenced by men covered in a Five-starred red flag and a bloodied East Turkestan flag; a lonely boy crying on #EidMubarak as his family was locked up in the #Gulags.

Long-time friend of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and former Prime Minister, Ahmet Davutoğlu, also uploaded a picture on Twitter.

He writes, “The Education Ministry is organising a painting competition titled “China in My Dreams” for our kids. Our dream is East Turkistan. Dear children, picture the dream of saving our brothers and sisters in our fatherland from oppression and send that to this competition. Speak up to those who doesn’t wish to hear!”

WHO Experts Review the Severe Side Effects Data of Sinovac, Commented "Low Credibility" for Elderly

WHO experts indicated 5 May that the Chinese Sinovac for COVID-19 has protection to adults who are under 60. However, there is a lack of data on the risk of serious side effects from vaccines, with “low credibility” for patients over aged 60 and with chronic illnesses. The expert group even referred to the severe side effect data of Sinovac on the elderly and patients with chronic illness as “very low” credibility.

The Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) in WHO evaluated the Phase 3 clinical test data of Sinovac in China, Brazil, Indonesia, Turkey, and Chile. They are very confident about the effectiveness of two doses of Sinovac in preventing adults aged 18-59, moderately confident about the severe side effect data on adults aged 59 years or younger. However, for those aged 60 years or older and patients with chronic diseases, the risk data of patients with severe side effects after vaccination is classified as “low credibility”, which means that the test data of Sinovac cannot determine the risks of serious side effects of Sinovac on the elderly and patients.
