Doxxed Hong Kong Reporters Suspect China Travel Agency Has Leaked Information

Since the anti-ELAB protests began, reporters' personal data have been put online many times in doxxing attempts. Recently, a website circulated a large number of "Apple Daily" employees' photos and information.

Those who were doxxed pointed out that their photos being disclosed were the one they used for the Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents. It is suspected that the information was leaked by the China Travel Agency that handled the documents.

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data responded to inquiries, stating that it has no statutory authority to force extraterritorial organizations to provide website operator information, and the Office has not responded positively to whether it will investigate China Travel Agency.

Reflection of a Hongkonger Who Organized a Rally on #Aug4 in 2019

//- Countless meetings
- The controversy about the doubling of the rally
- The Leisure and Cultural Services Department refused to lend venues as the assembly point
- “Blown fuses” after the rally in Shatin
- Our volunteers crunching to design publicity posters
- Having 1-2 hours of sleep before going to work
- Replying Telegram messages non-stop
- Changing locations everyday to collect supply to avoid dogs that unreasonably confiscate whatever they see

All vivid memories:
We would be satisfied if even only 20,000 to 30,000 people joined us.
In the end, our Tseung Kwan O fielded 150,000 people.

I remember one time when I was distributing flyers,
an elderly woman told us to stay safe with tears on her face.

A man took our flyer, much to the protest of his wife, and then he whispered to us “Add Oil”

Hongkongers' ability to move people is surely world class.

HK Government Appoint Chinese Companies without License to Handle COVID19 Testing in HK

The Hong Kong government purchased services from three private laboratory organizations to provide virus testing for the local population without a tender. The government claimed that only these three laboratories in the market can provide data in a short period of time and Nucleic acid testing services in the scale of thousands.

Ming Pao found that one of the companies, China Inspection Co., Ltd. ("China Inspection") and its testing center, China Dragon Inspection and Certification (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. ("China Dragon"), mainly provide services such as product or automobile inspection and certification in Hong Kong and does not operate in the medical laboratory business. Its laboratory has not been approved by the government medical laboratory.

Questioned by Ming Pao, the government revealed that the relevant testing services are provided by China Dragon partnering with local laboratories that meet the requirements, but declined to disclose details such as procurement fees.

Civic Party Legislative Councillor Kwok Ka-ki said that Hong Kong has specific regulations on medical testing. If a qualified medical laboratory is not available, it should not be allowed to provide high-risk medical testing. He said that the government has appointed CCIC and other companies as testing contractors without bidding, and now CCIC suspects that it will "outsource" the testing services, and questioned why it was looking for CCIC instead of directly contacting the relevant local laboratory to provide services.

Many had questioned the validity of these designated companies and how come other companies can only cooperate with these designated companies. The government was condemned for exploiting local companies through intermediate "contractors".

Suspected for Receiving $3M from CCP, University of Pennsylvania Failed to Explain the Donor's background

The University of Pennsylvania, a member of the Ivy League, was accused that a donation from an unknown party of US$3M, may include the Chinese Communist Government. Washington Free Beacon, a political news website by the conservatives, reported on 3rd August "The amount of donation was from a mysterious shell corporation in Hong Kong which its boss was involved in a government official corruption case in Shanghai, resulting in resignation. Besides, he has a close relationship with the Chinese Communist Party. The donation implies that China is paying an effort in interfering with the Academies in the US."

In the past few years, the University of Pennsylvania received a large number of foreign funds, which the majority was from China. From March 2017 to the end of last year (2019), the University received presents and contracts of US$61M involved. Among the large amount, cash donation owned a significant portion of US$19M.

Chinese missiles suspected of landing in Japan’s economic zone

//Five ballistic missiles fired by China are believed to have landed in the waters of Japan’s exclusive economic zone (#EEZ) for the first time, Tokyo’s defence minister said.

China held its largest-ever military exercises around Taiwan on Thursday, August 4, 2022, following US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s visit to the self-governed island, despite stern warnings from Beijing that the visit should not proceed.

Japan’s EEZ extends up to 200 nautical miles (approximately 370km) from the country’s coastline, beyond the limits of its territorial waters and parts of Japan’s southernmost island region Okinawa are close to Taiwan.

“Five of the nine ballistic missiles launched by China are believed to have landed within Japan’s EEZ,” Japanese defence minister Nobuo Kishi told reporters on Thursday.

Japan has “lodged a protest with China through diplomatic channels”, Kishi said, calling the matter “a serious problem that affects our national security and the safety of our citizens”.

The figure of nine Chinese missiles fired was an assessment by the Japanese side, Kishi said, adding that the five missiles that landed in the EEZ appeared to have splashed down southwest of Okinawa’s Hateruma Island. Kishi said it was the first time that Chinese ballistic missiles had landed in Japan’s EEZ.//

China Claims Missiles Struck All Targets Accurately; Japan Claims Missiles Hit Japanese Exclusive Economic Zone

China had launched missiles at multiple designated zones to the east of Taiwan and had struck all targets accurately, says People's Liberation Army (#PLA) Eastern Theater Rocket Force spokesperson Shi Yi in an announcement in the afternoon of August 4, 2022

These are part of China's announced military exercises from August 4 to 7, 2022, in which its military had designated 6 exercise zones in waters surrounding Taiwan. These are closer to Taiwan than China's military exercises during the 1996 Taiwan Strait Crisis.

The same evening, Japan's defense minister Nobuo Kishi told reporters that five of China's ballistic missiles had landed in Japan's exclusive economic zone (#EEZ). He had lodged a protest with the Chinese embassy in Japan, demanding the military exercises be halted immediately.

The areas China designated for its exercise is within 30km of areas where Japanese fishing vessels regularly operate, according to an announcement by the fishery association of Okinawa’s Hateruma Island. The association issued a warning to the island's fishermen the day before the exercise. "This is much closer than any regular exercises by Taiwan," the association's spokesperson said in a troubled voice. "The PLA is holding an exercise here for the first time. It's hard to say how it would turn out."

Former HK Chief Executive mocks Nancy Pelosi tarnishing pro-democracy pursuits in Hong Kong

At the height of military tension over Taiwan following the visit by U.S. House Speaker #NancyPelosi, CY Leung shared six old photographs on his Facebook page on August 4.

Among these pictures were Pelosi meeting renowned pro-democracy activists in Hong Kong, including #JimmyLai, #AnsonFong, #MartinLee, #NathanLaw and #JoshuaWong.

Mockingly, Leung remarked, “Everyone she touched…”

Who is CY Leung?
Official name Leung Chun-Ying, he was Hong Kong’s 3rd Chief Executive, elected by a 1,200-strong small circle electoral college in 2012. He was the only Chief Executive who delivered inaugural speech in Mandarin at that time, although 95% of local population speaks in Cantonese. His business interests have close tie with the Chinese Community Party and utter pro-China stance alienated the people in Hong Kong, which eventually led to the outbreak of Umbrella Movement in 2014. On only the third day of protests, Leung ordered deployment of tear gas on the protesters.

Although Leung decided not to run for the Chief Executive election in 2016 citing family problems, he earned himself a nickname, “wolf-Ying” when he started a dedicated Facebook page in 2018 to defend China’s interests. His abusive remarks on the city’s pro-democracy pursuits, characterized by unapologetic, “dare to struggle” instincts resembled those of China’s "wolf warrior" diplomats.
