Young Hongkonger Grieves Loss of Freedom of Expression
After being detained and searched by police behind cordon lines, this young protester showed up at Prince Edward MTR station in remembrance of the victims of the 8.31 police attack last year.
The youngster told reporters that he felt that he was being deprived of freedom of expression. He reiterated that Hong Kong used to be one of the world’s freest city. Citizens’ freedom and rights, however, are being eroded, as they are no longer allowed to express their views and stance freely, even when they were not disturbing anyone else.

Sapientia - Exhibition of the protests (Part 1)
Objorurnalist cooperated with the Hong Kong University of Students’ Unions (HKUSU) to present the exhibition of “Sapientia”, which is on the view of from 19-31 October 2020 at the HKUSU building. The exhibition showcases collected objects associated with the Anti-ELAB Movement in Hong Kong.
The title of “Sapientia” (格物 in Chinese) is part of the school motto of the University of Hong Kong, “Sapientia at Virtus”. “Sapientia” means wisdom in Latin. It echos with its Chinese equivalent originated from ancient Confucian teaching which refers to investigating things to acquire knowledge.
Objects are vessels of information. Every object is made, used and discarded with a purpose. Their forms, functions, locations and time found speak to the culture and ideology behind their creators, owners and users. Since the beginning of the Anti-ELAB Movement in June 2019, people have been increasingly innovative to support the movement in new actions. Objects are being invented or repurposed, meanwhile shaping the Anti-ELAB Movement and inspiring further civil movements locally and abroad.

UK Media: Intelligence Agencies Recruit Chinese Talents to Strengthen Intelligence Investigations against China's Spy War
In response to the growing threat from China and its espionage activities, the UK media reported that the national intelligence agencies would recruit Chinese language talents for a variety of intelligence activities.
The Evening Standard reported that MI6, MI5 and the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) would soon increase the recruitment of language experts, particularly Chinese speakers, to be at the "heart of intelligence investigations".
Some job boards have already posted recruitment notices by the intelligence agencies, "Coming soon: MI5, MI6 and GCHQ will soon launch recruitment campaigns for Chinese language experts". Adding that, the Chinese language experts at MI5 will use their language skills to provide intelligence analysis and play an active role in directing projects and advancing investigations.
The report pointed out that China’s espionage activities have reached a considerable scale, intending to steal intellectual property and other commercial secrets and interfere in politics. The new MI5 director, Ken McCallum, said earlier that British intelligence officers discovered that China attempts to interfere in politics. He also revealed that Britain, which recently thwarted China's political interference in the European Union, is facing a severe challenge from these "hostile acts".

National Security Conference in Taiwan, Tsai Ing-Wen: Continuing Efforts in Garnering Bipartisan Support, Regardless of Election Results
On 31 Oct, 2020, president Tsai Ing-Wen of Taiwan attended National Security Conference. According to spokesperson of the presidential office, Chang Tun-Han, the president had given instructions on issues regarding military threats, the stability of cross-strait relations, and development of Taiwan-US relations. Taiwan will continue to strengthen its relationship with either party, the prime goal of Taiwan-US relations being facilitating bipartisan support to Taiwan. She believes Taiwan and US would continue to consolidate their existing relationships, and the fundamental basis of the relationship is not subjected to any changes.
Chang stated that the Taiwan-US relations have achieved substantial progresses, including the passing of Taiwan-friendly bills such as Taiwan Travel Act, TAIPEI Act and allowing higher ranking officials visits to Taiwan. He continued to emphasise that Taiwan-US relations is amongst the top priorities of Taiwan’s diplomatic relations. Chang also specified that President Tsai has instructed the Foreign Affairs, National Security Council and representatives at US, about fostering diplomatic ties with the US. This includes garnering support from US government and congress, firmly implementing key policies and proactively enforcing prioritised projects in coming months.
President Tsai stated that, by holding onto and defending the values of democracy and freedom: will deepen and consolidate Taiwan-US relations would protect the security and stability of the region. She reiterated and reassured that the Taiwanese government is confident in and capable of responding to any situation.

The Leader of the Conservative Party in Canada Erin O’Toole once again criticised China and the ruling Liberal Party. He pointed out that Canadian politicians and large companies have moved a large number of manufacturing job opportunities to China, betraying the local workers. The Chinese government, on the other hand, has repeatedly violated international standards, failed to open its domestic market to foreign enterprises justly, and has broken its promises on human rights protection at the same time.
O’Toole gave a video speech at the Canadian Club Toronto, saying that too much power was in the hands of big corporations. They disrupted the balance between businessmen and workers when they migrated their production lines to China. He said that the job opportunities, steady salary and pension that Canadian workers used to enjoy in the past, were now part of a “bygone era”.

Despite this, the Department of Justice (#DOJ) did not arrest the sheriff, but prosecuted the student over the charge over "possession of offensive weapons". The student rejected the charge, as he was only told to carry two bottles of "red wine". The case was presented in court on October 31, 2021.
The sheriff was not on the witness list, so the defence requested to summon him to the court as a witness on the next day. The court was required to warn the police that his testimony might lead him to be prosecuted.
In addition, the defence also revealed that the police had failed to bring in a key witness who was the one asking the defendant to bring two bottles of "red wine," which were petrol bomb in disguise, to the location involved.
According to a source, when the middle man was arrested, he revealef that the sheriff involved had asked him to find a "fool" to frame and trap. This was how the entire case is disclosed.
The prosecutor summoned a police officer of Kwai Chung Task Force. The officer said that the sheriff had joined the team for more than a month. On the day before the incident, the sheriff mentioned a piece of intelligence that there would be a person hiding petrol bombs in the flower rack in Kwai Fong Estate, and asked the team members to take special care of it. However, the sheriff suddenly disappeared for more than one hour in that evening, until the defendant was arrested.
