Hong Kong Track Cyclist Sarah Lee Gains her Place in Sprint Semi-Finals

Hong Kong's track cyclist Sarah Wai-sze Lee on August 7, 2021 beat Great Britain's Katy Marchant to enter the semi-final that will take place at 9:18 (Hong Kong Time) on August 8.

By gaining her place in the medal match, Lee who has previously lost to Marchant, once and again, proved her perseverance and determination.

Hong Kong’s track cyclist Sarah Wai-sze Lee on August 8, 2021, won her second bronze medal in the women’s track cycling sprint event in 2020 Tokyo Olympic, becoming, after her bronze medal in the kirin conpetitionin the 2012 London Olympics. Lee is the first local athlete to win medals in two different games and two separate Olympic Games.

In the bronze medal match in Tokyo, Lee beat Germany’s Emma Hinze 2-0 in a best-of-three match up.

Lee said after the match that her goal is to capture two medals in her last Olympic Games. She has mixed feeling after winning one bronze, "Life is like this: You work hard on one thing, but the outcome is not ideal. At least, when we have done our best, there is no regret."

Lee said she learnt to take good care of herself during the competition, "I always tell myself to cherish myself more, in order to go forward. I realise I can become the one who loves me the most."
