HK Police Intercept Online News Journalists
On June 12, 2021, the Hong Kong police cordoned off Causeway Bay and intercepted civilians in multiple districts including Causeway Bay and Mongkok. The day was the second anniversary of the 2029 #AntiELAB movement. The police massive deployment made it impossible for the pro-democracy population to publicly commemorate the day.
Just when three journalists of the online news platform #EggsClub walked out of the subway station, the police conducted stop and search on them.
Their personal information was recorded and the police demanded them to stop live streaming. The police also warned them of "inciting the public" if they talked about "something not related to work" during the live broadcast. The police, however, did not explain what they meant by "something not related to work".
