China Makes it Difficult for Taiwan to Evacuate Taiwanese Stuck in Wuhan

The coronavirus from Wuhan continues to spread across the globe, approximately 300 Taiwanese business travellers are stranded in Wuhan right now. The Taiwanese Straits Exchange Foundation is trying to charter planes to evacuate any Taiwanese citizens who are remaining in Wuhan. However, the Taiwan Affairs Office of PRC has not approved it. President of the ROC (Taiwan) Tsai Ing-wen said her government will communicate with the PRC via various channels, in hopes of getting their people home safely. Former president Ma Ying-jeou also called for China to put themselves in Taiwan’s shoes, and agreed that those remaining in Wuhan should return home in a chartered flight.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo published a post on Twitter in light of the outbreak of the coronavirus, expressing that the PRC's reluctance to allow Taiwan to evacuate its people, is infuriating.
