The 'i' in iPhone 11 now stands for India-made: Apple for the first time makes a top-of-the-line model in the country

//Apple has started making its flagship iPhone 11 at the Foxconn plant near Chennai, the first time it’s manufactured a top-of-the-line model in the country, marking a boost for the government’s Make in India initiative.

//Of the three new models Apple launched in September, the iPhone 11 is the biggest seller in India. Supplies of the locally made device have already reached stores.

//The latest move marks the growing localization of Apple’s manufacturing in the country. The move also helps expand Apple’s production base beyond China at a time when Sino-US ties have soured.

//Apple may consider exporting the India-made iPhone 11 and reducing its dependence on China.

Israeli Decryption Firm Ceases Services To Hong Kong Police Force and China

#Cellebrite is an Israeli company which assisted Hong Kong police in decrypting the data in the iphone of Joshua Wong, former Secretary-General of Demosistō. The firm recently announced on their official website that their provision of support and services of digital technology to Hong Kong and China would be ceased immediately due to changes in US laws.

After Microsoft Systemation AB, a Swedish Technology firm, Cellebrite will be the second foreign science and technology enterprise to terminate business with Hong Kong and China after the promulgation of the National Security Law.

Wong posted on his social networking page on 9th October, explaining that this “belated” justice is served thanks to the cumulated effort from international media, Israeli human rights lawyers, and Hongkongers.

P&G Researched New Technology with Chinese Traders to Bypass Apple’s Privacy Policy, Tracking iPhone User Data

Wall Street Journal quoted from sources that large consumer goods group, P&G, participates in developing a new technology to bypass Apple’s new privacy policy to collect iPhone user data for targeting advertisement. That technology is testing in China.

Compare to television and street advertising in the past, advertisers and merchants have sent out some targeted advertisements to attract consumers by collecting and analysing usage habits and preferences of users for ten years to increase marketing effectiveness. As the public cares more about personal privacy in recent years, some technology companies also tighten the policy to protect user’s privacy.

However, similar policies cannot stop enterprises from providing such targeted advertisements. Wall Street Journal stated that US multinational consumer goods leading enterprise P&G, multinational accounting companies Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers International Limited, and market research company Nielson are all participating in the new technology development to bypass Apple’s existing privacy policy which limits the collection of user's data.

Apple censors engraving service, report claims

Apple censors references to Chinese politicians, dissidents and other topics in its engraving service, a report alleges.

Citizen Lab said it had investigated filters set up for customers who wanted something engraved on a new iPhone, iPad or other Apple device.

And Apple had a broad list of censored words, not just in mainland China but also in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Apple said its systems "ensure local laws and customs are respected".
