A New World Bus driver was arrested by the police when on duty on Sept 6, 2020.

According to Figo Chan, Vice-convener of Civil Human Rights Front (CHRF), the bus driver was charged with not just "dangerous driving" but also "possession of offensive weapon" being a spanner and a screw driver.

At around 16:30 in Yau Ma Tei, the bus driver of route no. 970 was intercepted by the police, reportedly due to him horning, as the police occupied the road. Tens of riot police and tens of traffic police surrounded him for over an hour. He was arrested and taken away by the police.

Mother to seek Legal Assistance before Pressing Charge Against Hong Kong Police for Injuring her Children

On Sunday, September 6, 2020, a 12-year-old girl went with her mother and 20-year-old brother to Mong Kok for lunch. As the mother went for groceries, the brother and sister went shopping at Sai Yeung Choi Street.

For no apparent reason, several male police officers wrangled the young girl and forcefully pinned her to ground between their legs. The police also ticketed the girl for violating gathering ban.

The Police Force released a statement later on, claiming that the girl looked “suspicious” and officers on the scene only applied "minimum force" to subdue her.

The girl, traumatized, was wounded on her arm and knee. She pleaded for her mother to bring her home but her mother advised her to first seek medical assistance.

The mother of the 12-year-old girl and the 20-year-old boy, Mrs Ho, told reporters that her son and daughter were intended to shop for stationary in Mong Kok. As police cordon lines were set up in Yau Ma Tei, blocking their way to the stationary shop, they then tried to meet up at Sai Yeung Choi South Street.

When Mrs Ho arrived at Sai Yeung Choi South Street, she was shocked to find her daughter sitting inside the police cordon line. When asked, police said her daughter and son "breached the gathering ban" and were therefore ticketed.

Mrs Ho condemned the police for their unjust enforcement and for their groundless accusation on the brother and the sister for violating the gathering ban. A passerby said he saw 4 policemen pushing and dragging the young girl. He told the police to stop. Then, the police accused him of "walking with" the brother and sister and hence "exceeding" the number of people allowed under the anti-pandemic ordinance.

Mrs Ho said she will seek assistance from the District Councillor and lawyers before pressing a charge against the police. She stressed that she will not pay an unreasonable fine ticket.

Orthopedic Surgeons: Police's Violent Tactics may have Broken 12-year-old Girl’s Ribs and Lumbar Spine Bones

A 12-year old girl, on her way to shop for pastel chalk on Sunday, September 6, 2020, was body-slammed head-on by the riot police, who knocked her off her feet. Three more riot police piled on top of her as she was forcefully pinned to the ground in between one of the officer’s legs, causing multiple injuries on her body.

This left the city enraged and the girl traumatised.

The mother of the girl, Mrs Ho, told Apple Daily that her daughter refused to talk about the incident nor watch any relevant video footage. She is worried that her daughter might be suffering from psychological trauma and might need help from a psychologist.

Several orthopedic surgeons, who refused to be identified, commented that the police’s violent enforcement, targeting a young girl, had a good chance of breaking the girl’s ribs and lumbar spine bones. They added, “The girl was very lucky to have gotten away with just abrasions."

Founder of Taiwanese Forum PTT Boycotts Disney's Mulan, Hailing Hong Kong Women as "True Mulans"

Ethan Tu, founder of Taiwan’s AL Lab initiative and forum PTT, announced on 6 September, 2020 that he will resolutely boycott Disney's Mulan starred by Chinese actress Liu Yifei.

Tu pointed out that the true spirit of the heroic Mulan is carried by many women in Hong Kong who took to the streets to defend their homeland, the rule of law and human rights even though they were threatened by police violence.

In Tu's opinion, Chinese actress Liu Yifei, who was openly supportive of the infamously abusive Hong Kong police, was too hypocritical and therefore incapable of portraying the heroine Mulan.

"I will not watch Mulan. For I have watched the real Mulans [in Hong Kong] die for my ideals and freedom for a whole year. I cannot watch the hypocritical patriotic story of becoming a hero."

Tu lamented that the youth took to the streets for Hong Kong, but were threatened and persecuted by the Hong Kong police with sexual violence. Therefore, he could not look at Liu Yifei, who supported Hong Kong Police's indiscriminate violence.

HK Police Demand a Man Having Meal in Park to Wear Facemask and Threaten to Charge him of Being Drunk-and-Disorderly

The video footage, provided by an informant to Apple Daily, captured a team of police officers encircling and questioning a man who was having his meal on his own in a park.

One by one, the officers keep pressing on the man, demanding him to put on his facemask with an utterly poor attitude without giving him a chance to explain.

When the man attempted to seek clarification on legal basis of the police’s demand, one female officer felt offended and lashed, “Now, I (police) am telling you to stop eating”. She then threatened to arrest the man with a charge of being drunk-and-disorderly.

The officers eventually released the man after searching his belongings and recording his ID and information.

Apple Daily approached the Police Force for comment on the incident.

"What Does Your Revolution Look Like?": Uruguayan Photographer Praises Frontline Indigenous Communities for Defending Rainforests

A billboard-sized photo taken by Uruguayan photographer Pablo Albarenga, winner of 2020's Sony World Photography Award, was displayed on the outer wall of Eaton Hotel, Hong Kong.

The photograph shows a tree standing alone at dawn after surviving deforestation in the Amazon rainforest. The photo is collected in Albarenga's Amazon series which aims to raise awareness of natural conservation and the sustainability of indigenous community.

In his works, Albarenga called for the protection of not only vegetation, clean air and animals, but also the 30 million native population in the Amazon area. Albarenga praised the indigenous peoples at the frontline for "defending their as well as our homes".

On another billboard at Eaton Hotel, the question "What Does Your Revolution Look Like?" has also been on display for several months; however, since the enactment of the national security law in Hong Kong, the word "revolution" was removed and ironically replaced by an ellipsis.
