Hong Kong Police pay late night visit but refuse to show warrant card, Citizen demands explanation

Mr. Leung, a resident of Nam Shan Estate made a report to Sham Shui Po Police Station, complaining that he was disturbed by 4 persons claiming to be policemen. He demanded an explanation from the commander of the Sham Shui Po District.

On 26 March, 3 men and 1 woman proclaiming probe policemen arrived at Mr. Leung’s unit and hammered the door. They said they wanted to follow up a divorce case in 2017. Leung asked them to show their warrant cards, but the group rejected and said “there is no need to do so”. One man threatened Leung: "Don’t point finger, or we will charge you for assaulting the police." The four “policemen” left the scene after 10 minutes of confrontation.

Mr. Leung had also received nuisance calls on that night and the following night, in which the caller cursed at him. Mr. Leung stressed that police officers must present their warrant cards and warrant issued by the court.

The security guard of the building recalled that around 10pm that night, 4 persons entered the building from the back door. He asked them to register their personal information, but was in vain.

Mr. Leung’s daughter had been arrested in the Anti-extradition law movement, but was not prosecuted. He doubted this if the incident was related to his daughter.

#JoshuaWong Pestered by 6 People in a Car Reportedly Owned by Police

Former Secretary-General of DemosistĹŤ Joshua Wong stated on his social media account that he had been pestered by six individuals at Victoria Peak Garden on the afternoon of August 23.

Wong later discovered that the owner of the car was registered to live at Shun Lee Disciplined Services Quarters, which made him suspect that the owner was a police officer.

Wong stated that after looking through security footages, he found that a woman had waited at the site before he arrived, and that she started filming as soon as he arrived at the park. When he was arguing with the people who pestered him, his friend heard the woman calling for others to come to the park. Later more people arrived by car and shouted insults at him.

#ChineseNetizens Criticize Popular #ThaiDrama "#GirlFromNowhere" for showing flags of #HongKong and #Taiwan on its #Facebook page

"Girl from Nowhere", a popular Thai drama, has just ended its second season on #Netflix recently. A photo was posted on the series’ official Facebook channel thanking the support from its audiences around Asia.

However, the act has infuriated Chinese netizens. The Chinese netizens criticized the series for showing the flags of Hong Kong and Taiwan.

The series on its Facebook page posted on May 17, 2021 a “Thank you” note in 7 different languages to celebrate its popularity around Asia.

The flag of Hong Kong and the flag of Taiwan were put beside the Chinese characters “多謝” and “谢谢” respectively. Chinese netizens accused the photo of "insulting China" and claimed to boycott the series. They also condemned the photo for listing Hong Kong and Taiwan as "two separate countries".

Thai netizens refuted by saying “China doesn't even have Netflix, why you gotta be so angry”.
