Australia's allies aim for China's campaign of 'disinformation.'
Fake photo tweeted by the Chinese Foreign Minister Zhao Lijian has gotten the attention of Australia's international allies of the Five Eyes, namely the US, UK, Canada, and New Zealand.
A spokesperson for the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said, "Disinformation is an issue we take extremely seriously and we will continue to coordinate closely with Australia and other international partners to ensure our citizens are protected."
The US ambassador to Australia, Arthur Culvahouse, also stated that "The world can only wish that the Chinese Communist Party were to bring the same degree of transparency and accountability to credible reports of atrocities against the Uighurs in Xinjiang."
Australia's Prime Minister Scott Morrison reiterated, "The post of a false image of an Australian soldier does not diminish our respect for and appreciation of our Chinese Australian community or indeed our friendship with the people of China." He makes clear that the escalating tensions between the two governments were not a reflection on Chinese Australians.

United States House of Representatives is going to consider the Holding Foreign Companies Accountable Act on Wednesday 2 Dec. The Act requires companies to disclose whether they are owned or controlled by a foreign government. The Act is expected to pass smoothly, indicating that China Concept Stocks or Chinese corporations listed in the US will further be regulated. Some companies that fail to comply with the rule will be suspended from trading or removed from the US market.
Republican Senator John Kennedy and Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen introduce The Holding Foreign Companies Accountable Act. The measure requires foreign companies to meet the auditing standards set up by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). Companies will be forbidden from being listed on any US exchange if it has failed to comply with PCAOB’s audits for three years in a row. Besides, if companies fail to provide evidence showing that they are not controlled by a foreign government, they cannot be listed in the US market.

While the US focuses on “taking care of the US first”, China is “likely to beat the United States in its own backyard through vaccine diplomacy” by starting clinical trials of COVID-19 vaccines in South America. China has begun vaccinating citizens in Brazil and Mexico even neither country has an approved vaccine. The Mexican government has even signed an advance purchase agreement to supply 35 million single-dose immunizations.
Admiral Craig S. Faller, leader of the United States Military’s Southern Command, conceded that “We’re in a global pandemic and I’ve taken the approach here that any help is legitimate help is welcome help, so I don’t make any judgment on that. If the vaccine works, folks need to do what they need to do as a nation.”
China has already expanded its influence in the South American region through its Belt and Road Initiative, loans across Latin America, a space mission control station in Argentina, port deals around the Panama Canal, and most recently, shipments of medical supplies and vaccinations to curb the pandemic.

The Chinese state-owned Shandong Gold Group proposed to acquire a Canadian North-Pole gold min. The transaction was initially scheduled for completion before February next year. However, the Canadian Federal government extended the transection period for 45 days due to the national security review action. A Canadian retired major general lists the drawbacks of the transaction to the Globe and Mail, including allowing the Chinese to have the authority to use the strategically valuable Northwest Passage and the short distance to Canadian strategic infrastructure, opposing the authority to accept the acquisition.
Shandong Gold Group proposed to acquire a Canadian mining industry TMAC Resources’ North Pole gold mining in Hope Bay at CAD 230 million (around HKD 1.38 billion) in May this year. The mining location is close to the Northwest Passage, where it has high strategic value to Canada.
A Canadian retired military veteran David Fraser, was the officials to the major general, was a Canadian military commander in Afghanistan. He showed his strong opposition on this deal in an interview, pointing out that China continuously aims at being “near-Arctic power”. According to Bloomberg, after international public opinion criticized China for causing African and other developing countries to bear huge debts, China’s fiscal commitment to Africa fell for the first time in more than a decade.
Xi Jinping, President of China, attended the 8th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation via video. He announced that China will provide 1 billion vaccines, and also mentioned about financial commitments to Africa under the first three-year plan of “China-Africa Cooperation Vision 2035”. This include providing US$10 billion trade finance line; promoting total investment of Chinese enterprises in Africa to be not less than US$10 billion in the next three years; providing US$10 billion line of credit to African financial institutions; there will be US$10 billion of additional special drawing rights issued by International Monetary Fund, allocated to Africa, which will be $40 billion in total. In addition to financial commitments, Xi also proposed to establish a “green channel” for African agricultural products, hoping to import a total of US$300 billion from Africa in the next three years.
The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation is held every three years. Bloomberg said, China’s financial commitments to Africa in 2018 forum was US$60 billion, which has been decreased by 33 per cent. And during 2016-2018, China’s financial commitments to Africa doubles every three years. In another words, this was the first decline in financial commitments to Africa in 12 years.

This include providing US$10 billion trade finance line; promoting total investment of Chinese enterprises in Africa to be not less than US$10 billion in the next three years; providing US$10 billion line of credit to African financial institutions; there will be US$10 billion of additional special drawing rights issued by International Monetary Fund, allocated to Africa, which will be $40 billion in total. In addition to financial commitments, Xi also proposed to establish a “green channel” for African agricultural products, hoping to import a total of US$300 billion from Africa in the next three years.
The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation is held every three years. Bloomberg said, China’s financial commitments to Africa in 2018 forum was US$60 billion, which has been decreased by 33 per cent. And during 2016-2018, China’s financial commitments to Africa doubles every three years. In another words, this was the first decline in financial commitments to Africa in 12 years.

Shanakiyan Rajaputhiran Rasamanickam: ‘China Go Home’ campaign to be launched in Sri Lanka if China doesn't support debt restructuring program
New Delhi: Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian Shanakiyan Rajaputhiran Rasamanickam says that if China fails to support Sri Lanka's Debt Restructuring program, a China Go Home campaign will be launched in the country.
MP Shanakiyan Rajaputhiran Rasamanickam told the Parliament that China being a trillion-dollar economy, should either slash Sri Lanka's debt or support the debt restructuring process if it is actually a friend of the island nation. He said that all the MPs must work in unison towards the betterment of the 22 Million Sri Lankans.
