Eye for Hong Kong Campaign

“The bill is dead”, following the non-legal binding announcement made by HK Chief Executive Carrie Lam on the extradition bill, the city is dying too. HKSAR Government refuses to set up an independent commission of inquiry to look into the saga. In response to the voices of people, HK police collude with triads to beat citizens indiscriminately (both peaceful protestors and non-protestors). A young girl, who volunteered herself to be a first-aider in a peaceful protest on 11 Aug 2019, was shot in the right eye by the police causing permanent vision loss.

This kind of physical and psychological violence routinely happens in Hong Kong now. The number of laws and regulations being breached by the so called law enforcement body in the past 2 months is just uncountable. The authority is creating violence every day and using brutality to rule the city.

The universal values that everyone on Earth embraces: freedom, justice, rule of law... are now at stake in Hong Kong. Our eyes can be taken, but truth can’t be.
To show your support to Hong Kong, please join the “Eye for Hong Kong Campaign”: upload a selfie to Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/Reddit with your right eye covered. We recommend you wearing a mask, which symbolizes Hong Kong people’s fear of expression, and also to protect you identity. Remember to tag at least 4 friends of yours, and the following:

To express support to the ongoing movement in Hong Kong, Tibetan Women Association organised a peaceful march. While marching, the participants covered their own right eye with bloodied bandages so that they could express support to the female first aider who lost her right eye in the movement.

Due to the fact that China has been oppressing Tibetan individuals and organisations for decades, organising the peaceful march required extraordinary courage. Alongside the movement, the pain the Tibetan people suffered must not be forgotten as well.

Global Support For Hong Kong [1/5]

South Korean actor 金義聖 Kim Eui-Sung (also know as Kim Ui-Seong) is South Korea’s first artist to openly voice his support for Hong Kong’s anti-Extradition Bill movement. He is highly concerned about Hong Kong and has published many posts on Instagram to support Hong Kong. He has also launched the #EyeforHK movement, with many Koreans also supported him by their actions. Their solidarity has deeply moved many Hongkongers and many also expressed their gratitude under his photo. Kim was rather modest and low-key towards everyone’s praise, saying that he was not a hero, that the ones on site and in the frontlines are instead the heroes.

On September 15, Kim came to Hong Kong together with news staff. They tried to interview participants in the march and convey the most authentic updates on Hong Kong so that Koreans can understand, with the hope that more Koreans will pay attention to this matter.

"I want to see the real situation and the real feeling of the Hong Kong people. I will do as many interviews as I can while I'm here. I just want to encourage them and stand with them, tell them that they are not alone. There are many people who are supporting them around the world. Many people in South Korea are very concerned about Hong Kong,” he said in an interview.

"(The demonstration) is very peaceful and very touching. It is really touching to see many young people stand up and speak for their own rights, freedoms and future,” says Kim, when asked about his feelings on seeing the demonstrations live. He also said that he hasn’t personally witnessed any violent conflict. “If the police don’t attack the people, I think there will be no violence."

Kim's visit received a lot of media attention from Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea. He successfully made many living overseas to pay more attention to Hong Kong demonstrations. His Instagram account was also flooded with many supportive messages.

August 11, 2019: Hong Kong Police Fire Bean Bag Round into the Eye of a Female First Aider

At around 7:30pm in Tsim Sha Tsui on August 11, 2019, the police headshot a female voluntary first aider outside the police station.

The bean bag round cracked the eye shield of the girl and went into her right eye, causing the rupturing of her eyeball and breaking her eyelid and maxilla.

On the same day, some pro-democracy protesters arrested in the area were sent to the notorious San Uk Ling Holding Center next to the border with China, where tortures and sexual assaults by the police would later be uncovered.
