83-year-old Li Yi: I don’t have long to live, but I believe Hong Kong young people have wisdom beyond imagination 5/6
▶️ Part 4
Was the police like this before?
"The police used to be..hmm...Since the establishment of the ICAC, the image of the police had really changed. I really don’t know what happened lately. I can’t say that there aren’t any good people at all. 5-6 years ago, I once left a bag on a taxi. There were thousands of dollars in the bag. I went home, and my domestic helper told me that the police made a call and said the driver brought my wallet to the police. I thanked the driver and I went to the Central Police Station. The police took my things out and counted them for me. They were very professional and humane. I was very impressed. For example, they said, ‘don’t count the banknotes in the public as others will see them.’ Then, they gave me a room to spread the bills open and count one by one, so I could check if everything was there. The things were done in a very orderly way, they were doing their job to helped me ... there will always be good ones left, but now there is a grouping effect, and good things will disappear. When everyone is together, they influence each other. If you don't follow the others, you look bad in the group. It seems that in Chris Tang Ping-keung’s dinner earlier, if you didn’t sing and laugh along, you were the odd one. In fact, not everyone necessarily wants to participate. This is the case. Due to such effect It's hard to say if there is any good person. This may be the biggest tragedy of Hong Kong. It is because police officers are public servants whom everyone has the most contact with. When there is an incident, such as domestic violence, you call the police. Police is important for the society to run. Now the police is behaving in such way, this really brings a lot of damages (to the society). "
//we must adhere to our original values, to fight continuously, in various forms, on various fronts.
//only a small group of Hong Kong people are infected. It is out of everyone’s expectation. The self-protection awareness of Hong Kong people is hardly seen in the rest of the world. Everyone is wearing a mask now.
//Hong Kong has its own quality.
//Hong Kong is the most civilised place in the world. The quality of Hong Kong people is also the best in the world, be it about the communication with foreigners, the integration with the world, and people’s kindness to others.
//our international contacts and mobility are beyond everyone ’s imagination.
//It’s not that Chinese don’t speak good English, but they don’t speak like us.
//How can you be ‘Chinese’? How can we be ‘Chinese’? We just need to be ourselves, we just need to be a human being and then that will be good enough"

Documentary about Hong Kong Pro-democracy Singer Denise Ho Banned by Top Streaming Platform
On July 1, 2020, the documentary about Hong Kong pro-democracy singer Denise Ho was released but meanwhile banned by a top streaming platform. Ho expressed her disappointment but did not reveal the name of the platform. The streaming platform has business in China and this is suspected to be the reason why the documentary was censored.
Director Sue Williams found it ironic that a documentary, exploring how artists censored by China survive in the showbiz, was itself censored by China. The director also said she did not think that the film could be shown in Hong Kong theatres.

Concert Tickets sold out in 2 minutes, Hong Kong pro-democracy singer #DeniseHO: every chance can be the last chance
Denise HO Wan Si, a Hong Kong popular pro-democracy singer, will have her 7-show concert in September at the Hong Kong Art Centre.
A total of 2,000 tickets were sold out within 2 minutes on 23 August, 2021. HO thanked all her fans in Facebook, "I will honor my soul to give a hug to each and every of you".
On the next day of HO's announcing her concert earlier, HO's closed fellow from the Hong Kong Shield Anthony WONG Yiu Ming, another popular pro-democracy singer, had been arrested for offence of "misconduct in election". Some fans of HO had commented on her social media pages asking her to "leave". HO thus shared her thought, "no one will know what's happening in the next second; in this messy age, we should be firm with ourself and our belief, don't be influenced by tons of things pass-by."

Protesters' Fund In Support of Hong Kong Pro-democracy Movement Will Cease Operation
The 612 Humanities Relief Fund was established on June 15, 2019 during the Anti-ELAB movement in Hong Kong, with the aim to provide relief, from medicak help, legal service to psychological support, to the civilians involved in the city's territory-wide pro-democracy movement.
'612' was named after the day June 12, 2019 where the first police-civilian clash took place. The day had propelled even more civilians to join the pro-democracy cause.
The trustees of the foundation includes legal expert #MargaretNg, cultural studies scholar #HeungPoKeung, Cantopop singer #DeniseHo, and cardinal of the Catholic Church #JosephZen Ze-kiun.
The dissolution of the foundation is caused by the disbandment of a pro-democracy group under which the foundation was registered.

#HongKongArtsCentre Cancels Concert of Pro-democracy Singer #DeniseHo
The Hong Kong Arts Centre announced on August 31, 2021 that it has cancelled the venue booking for the concert of singer Denise Ho, an artist known for her pro-democracy stance. The Centre accused Ho and her team for "breaching a clause of the terms and conditions of hire" by allegedly creating "circumstances where public order or public safety would be endangered during the course of the performance".
Ho released a statement the next day, telling Hongkongers that she will not give up holding the concert. She announced that she will perform her concert via online streaming at the originally-scheduled time of the concert, September 12, 2021 at HKT20:00.
"There might be limitations with the venue, but the Stage is limitless," she wrote.

Pro-Democracy Hong Kong Singer #DeniseHo Live-Streams Concert, Vows to Carry On Singing
Pro-democracy Cantopop singer #DeniseHo was scheduled to play in her concert "Becoming the Song" on 8-12 September. However, just 8 days before her concert, the Hong Kong Arts Center abruptly cancelled Ho's venue booking.
Braving many difficulties, Ho went ahead to perform online on September 12, at the original scheduled time.
Ho said that it was like performing in sauna parlour, as the venue she eventually found was without air conditioning; she and her band were soaked in sweat. However, she felt that it was much more memorable experience for everyone than having a concert on a "proper" stage.
Denise Ho was thankful for her supporters. She said, "the best way to thank my supporters is to carry on singing."

Denise Ho Sing On After Arrest and Thank Cantopop Diva Anita Mui: "Do what you should do in the limited time you have"
Pro-democracy Hong Kong Cantopop singer #DeniseHo (#HOCC) is among the 6 Stand News staff members and directors who were arrested by National Security Police on suspicion of "conspiring to publishing seditious publications."
After being released on bail on December 30, 2021, Ho carried on with her online concert "HOCC MINILIVE" on 2 January 2022, as scheduled.
At the end of the concert, Ho thanked her mentor and Cantopop legend, the late #AnitaMui, for mentoring her and taking her in as family. "Without her, I believe I wouldn't find the courage to stand up at this very important moment."
During her detention, Ho resorted to meditation and chanting scriptures to pass time. Later she started singing songs by fellow pro-democracy musicians Anita Mui and Anthony Wong. "As I sang, I realized the power of music," Ho recalled. "It goes beyond entertaining people; it offers healing and companionship."
Ho has been insistent at holding this concert. In a broken voice, she thanked her supporting staff; with only a brief exchange of glances, her crew members understood that she wanted to go ahead with this concert, "no matter if she would be here or not."
She also offered words of encouragement to herself and her supporters, "Do what you should do in the limited time you have," and "do well at what you do best."
