Police Arrests University Student for a Second Time for Resetting His Phone when Hospitalized

On Dec 2, 2020, Hong Kong police arrested Baptist University Students Union's Acting President Fong Chung-yin for "obstructing justice".

In a press briefing, the police said Fong commited the offence, by "resetting" his phone when he was hospitalized after his initial arrest in August 2019.

The police reminded the press that Fong was arrested for "purchasing and possessing laser device" in Sham Shui Po last year. Police said these "high frequency laser devices" can be used for industry and military purposes.

A reporter asked the police if they should pay attention to the fact that such "high functional laser device" could be bought on the street.

The police reiterated that there was no reasonable explanation as to why Fong was carrying "ten high frequency laser devices". The police used an analogy to explain their particular logic: "It is strange if someone went out with 10 knives. If a chef has sharpened the knives and brought them to work, this is a reasonable explanation."
