Police Escort Pro-Police Supporter to Safety After Head-butting Reporter

2150 | Telford Plaza, #KowloonBay
At around 9pm on Christmas Day, as police were conducting a stop-and-search, a man in orange shouted, “Support the Hong Kong Police!” and attacked bystanders. Two people who tried to stop his attacks were instead arrested by the police.

The video clearly shows the man head-butting a reporter’s face and camera. A young man who was trying to pull the assailant in orange away was subdued by the police instead.

Afterwards, the assailant was escorted away to safety by the police, with the officer’s arm around the man’s shoulder.

HKPUSU PressCom issued a statement condemning any behaviour infringing press freedom. They also suspected the police of allowing the obstruction of reporters' work. Further, they charged that the police, by repeatedly intimidating reporters with pepper spray, have become an accomplice in the erosion of press freedom in Hong Kong.

A Candlelight Vigil in support of Hong Kong Pro-democracy Movement at Amsterdam Dam Square on Christmas Day

The event was organized by two native Dutch people. They have been following the coyrse of the protests in Hong Kong since June. They admire and support Hong Kong people for their pursuit of freedom and demoncracy.

The organizers said that this movement is not only a matter that concerns the people of Hong Kong but countries from all around the world can also see how the Chinese government is suppressing freedom. The organizers believe that if they don’t stand up for Hong Kong today, other countries will not support the Netherlands either if the Netherlands is facing the same kind of suppression someday.

Hong Kong Reverend Lo Hing-choi, "We resonate with the Jews who were ruled by foreigners; God will not let darkness take control forever"

Reverend Lo Hing-choi, the chairman of the Baptist Convention of Hong Kong, released an article titled "Light will shine in dark" on #ChristmasEve2020.

Lo reread the Book of Isaiah from the Old Testament, which recounted how the Kingdom of Judah fell into the hands of the Assyrian Empire.

Lo wrote: "We resonate with the Jew who were controlled by foreigners. Losing one's autonomy is a painful thing. Living in your own land but following the orders of foreigners is hard to accept."

Despite the Jews at that time had lived in darkness, "God's promise is not an anesthetic, but a motivation to drive history forward." Today many people are surrounded by darkness, but Lo wanted to tell those in darkness that "light will shine in dark and God will not let darkness take control forever".
