Day 91: Families Climb and Wade in a Bid to Show Support For Pro-democracy Hongkongers Locked Up by #CCP

November 21, 2020 marks the 91th day since 12 pro-democracy Hong Konger youths were captured and detained in China since August 23, 2020.

Members from 4 families set out in the morning to go to Crooked Island, by a ferry departing from Ma Liu Shui Ferry Pier. They then climbed up a mountain on the island,in order to see Shenzhen Yantian Harbour, where their close ones were detained in China, from afar in Hong Kong.

The family members brought balloons with names of the 12 Hongkongers and banners that read “#Save12”, hoping that they can send emotional support to their love ones, whom they and the lawyers they hired were not allowed to visit.

At the top of the hill, they released balloons, letting them be carried away by the wind towards China. Families and supporters shouted their messages to the detained Hongkongers: “Release the 12”, “Reject the government appointed lawyers” and “Never forget fellow protesters”.

The mother of Wong wai-yin said that she felt closer to her son, while the father of Cheng Tsz-ho urged the CCP government to conduct an open and transparent trial.

At around 2pm in the afternoon, Hong Kong police officers came all the way to the outlying island, around 28 kilometers away from the city centre. The police dispatched fine tickets to the familes, warning them the violation of the no-more-than-four-person gathering ban.
