At the end of the rally, some civilians decided to do some Chinese calligraphy, writing words such as "Democracy", "Conscience", and “Resist”, and handed their works to protesters. One of the most popular quote was "Liberate Hong Kong, Revolution of our Times".

Next Magazine Condemns Police for Targeting Magazine Photographer

Riot police conducted clearance operation at a legal rally on the first day of New Year, during which reporters of Next Magazine on the scene were targeted for no apparent reason, including a photographer who was shamed, scolded, brutally shoved, kicked and attacked by the police with their riot shields. The photographer fell to the ground, injured and bleeding. His cell phone was aggressively chucked to the ground.
